Tower Hobbies said I could send back my copy for a refund, so it's going in the mail today.

Why are they even importing the old Flybar helicopters into RF-X?
Not everyone is flying the latest gee whiz bang FBL helicopter.

If you can afford to buy the computer capable of running the new version of Real Flight, you are not flying flybar copters. It is about moving into the next generation of RC flight.

I disagree.
It is about moving into the next generation of RC flight.
So, it should just have multirotors, because that's where the future is.

Splatter... I think you're going to get some push-back on this. I took 4 helicopters to the field this weekend. All were glow helicopters and 3 were flybared. It would be an incorrect assumption to say I can't afford new FBL electric helicopters. I just happen to like my old friends and don't have to have something new to stay in this hobby.

We are not really talking apples here. I certainly do not mind a well maintained FB nitro bird at the field. I have not flown FB in a couple of 5 years. Once I changed over to FBL, I did not look back.

What I am talking about is a brand new simulator that has very few helis to begin with. It is my feeling that they should all have been something that can be purchased today. Anybody buying a NEW heli today is going to be hard pressed to go FB.

I certainly hope that I never give up my helis. I have multis and like them, but helis are my love.

Your mileage may vary.

I have FBL helicopters but I do look back. I look back in time a lot. I like my FBL helis and there is no doubt they have their place. There is no denying the simplicity, ease of setup and lower parts count. I would concede they are more "pure" in their movements.

With all that said, I love watching the parts of a good flybared helicopter go round and round. And I personally find that the small deviations in maneuvers that come with a flybared helicopter make me a better pilot. It's similar to an airplane on a windy. It will force you to become a better pilot simply because you have to fly it more.

I understand that if the new sim only ships with 7 models, including flybared helicopters might not have been a good choice. I get what you are saying that if someone buys a new sim, that functionally requires a new computer, they likely will have at least one new(ish)/FBL helicopter.

I sill would not extrapolate that out to say: "If you can afford to buy the computer capable of running the new version of Real Flight, you are not flying flybar copters. It is about moving into the next generation of RC flight."

But to each his own...

Cheers,

Bill
