There's another one...Ed Sanchez
One more rotten apple among us. This one rejoices in the name of edward lopez sanchez AKA flyawayed

His modus operandi is to buy something from you, in my case a complete helicopter kit including a fuselage. Then you get the "I'm a bit short right now, can I pay you at the end of the week/month when I get paid" No money arrived.

He was the winner in sport scale at Top Gun this year and when I talked to him at OHB last year I found him a nice guy. More fool me. He doesn't answer e-mails or phone calls and he claimed he was going to the scale meet at Dalton but didn't show up there either.

Its odd as he said there were some parts missing from his kit and I told him I had them waiting as soon as he paid for it. I guess he will sell it and someone else will get stiffed by this piece of work.

Normally I would write this off to experience but after talking to some other guys at Dalton, it appears he likes to make a habit of doing this so if he tries to buy something from you make sure you have the cash in your hand before you part with your goods. otherwise he will steal from you as well.

I hate thieves!

Why would you give something to a buyer without being paid? You are not a bank or credit card company, don't let people treat you like one.Nick Crego

How did he take physical possession of your kit in the first place without paying you for it?

He lives not far away and came to my house. He asked if he could pay for it at the end of the month.

I enjoyed his company at OHB and Top Gun and he seemed like a nice guy so I agreed.

As I said, normally I would have written this one off to experience but once I found out he makes a habit of stealing from people, I thought the best thing to do was to get the word out before he steals from someone else.

The scale community is a pretty tight knit group and most of us know who the players are. He wont be going to any more scale meetings without getting heavily leaned on.

I gave a person a chance like that once in my life and got burned too. Never again. People will smile to your face while putting a knife in your back. The only thing I trust anymore is green in my hand, other than that keep on walking!

Peter,

There is always small claims court. If he lives close by, it might be worth a shot. Next time you will say that he can have it when he stops by with the cash.

In the mean time, you keep it on the market and sell to the first real buyer. A buyer with promises, is not a buyer at all.

IF he had lots of time to pay for it, a month is a long time to wait for your money. I don't know how people can do this, me I would not be able to sleep knowing I owe money to someone. I used to lend tools out. Not any more.E5s and E7se,and a 766, Roban bell 222 800 superscale,450 bell 4 bladed head, gobby 380and 420 ,180cfx

This is since June. He promised to pay on the 1st July.

Small claims court is a waste of time. I may get judgement against him but getting the money is another matter. He lives in an apartment in Orlando, so probably has no assets which he cannot sell with a lien on them. If I went there, I would at best get "ok, I'll pay you at the end of the month, I promise" and be no better off

No, my revenge will come slowly as he will not be able to show his face at any more events locally as I will be there waiting.

As long as he doesn't catch anyone else on RunRyder, my purpose is complete.

What are you going to actually do if you see him at these meets? Demand your money- get physical? I'm not being sarcastic- I've been in similar situations with shady people before and I just tend to avoid them after I get taken advantage of as I am very non-confrontational and when I do get into a heated situation I tend to way over react. If the guy is at the field when I show up I just turn around and leave, don't speak to him if he shows up etc. I just cut them out of my life end of story. I have no use for scumbags as I'm far too generous and trusting.

That's very disappointing to hear. Ed has been quite active in the scale community and built some very nice helis. It looks like he's been quiet (although online)here and on HF since the beginning of July. I wonder if he's got other issues going on?

The buyer sends you money and you don't send the goods. What is the difference?

The deal usually is the buyer trusting the seller but no guarantees either way.

It is a real shame that these con artists exist.

That is the reason we have feed back! If someone has a history of being an stand up guy we do not have a problem sending money up front. When some one starts to get flakey, we need to know about it like this thread so it doesn't grow like a cancer. Unfortunately some get burned but we can keep this to a min.
