Hello

I purchased a Vario Bell 230 Mercy Air with Varios Novarossi 61,do you know if there is any conversion sets available so I can convert it to electric and use the original Bell and clutch with a electric motor?

Thanks
/Jack

Yeah, ECSH has a kit, but it doesn't retain the clutch, it uses a pinion gear.

I have made a kit that bolts up to the engine brackets and uses a idler gear so you can use the clutch with the 20 22 or 24 tooth clutch and you don't do any cutting on the skyfox engine mounts, i'm using the Scorpion electric motor in my skyfox.I also have the Actro motor in anouther skyfox. You can see the conversion in my gallery, Did it my way....Jack

Not really. They are supplying a pinion for the electric motor, and replacing the main gear with the aluminum unit for the belt.

Here are 2 different motor mounts for this conversion (with clutch). I machined the first one, the second is Joe's at ECSH, but I moved the hole pattern and mounted it higher in the airframe so I could hang a clutch on it. You can order Joes kit and modify it to work like the one that I modified. You'll need to order a 65 tooth main gear to do this swap with a 20 tooth clutch. PM me if you decide to go this route and need more info.

Hello Guys, I have been flying my "Tiger" with Skyfox/Rossi'65" last 20 years, these days I'm more into EDF jets but thinking of converting my old Tiger to E =power some simple way. I used to fly also Bell 230 with Rossi'65, both models 7.5-8kilos AUW, is there any issue going e at this weight?

I have an electric UH-1 that comes in at just under 10 kg (22 lbs) all-up. Shouldn't be a problem.

Good to hear but is it a conversion using Skyfox IC mech. or genuine E-power? Regards, Joe.

Thanks for getting back, I'm going to look into this bit deeper as I have only experience with little piddly 450 size T/Rex electric powered models. The clutch system for large and heavy models is my question mark and need to learn more what options there are as I can't imagine spinning the 1600mm rotor with direct drive, with out clutch system. Can you explain bit more what's your 2 stage set up? Regards, Joe.

One conversation for the benzin does not use a clutch and there is no issue spinning 810mm blades. It uses a pinion only instead of a clutch.

Like Joe says you do not need a clutch but you will need a soft start in the speed control.

Berry, I have redone my "E" conversion for my sky fox, got rid of the idler gear, turned around the motor mount and kept the clutch also! I like the soft start, I get 8 min. on 12's works good for me.
