I've been busy lately with fabricating rudder pedals, collective and joysticks. They were a set that I got from Aerodyne, I believe that they are Vario but generic in nature. Anyway, I cut the parts up and came up with my own. They are not true scale but they look pretty close to the ones in the flight manual. Cleaned the inside of the windshield one last time then took a deep breath and glued the floor deck in place. Should have it ready to get some air under it on Sunday after the cockpit is finished and assembled.RonI didn't crash. I just ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time! |

Well, I got 2 flights on it today in new colors and normally the sky has some clouds to contrast but, I never lost orientation on it. 2nd flight it was getting gusty, and my shaky thumbs didn't help either lol. I need to take some pictures in the shade I guess. Perhaps at the park tomorrow. Oh, and you guys remember Barry, AKA MOJAVE on RR, well we are stuck with him now LOL . Welcome to Florida Barry! and un-edited video Watch at YouTube RonI didn't crash. I just ran out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas all at the same time! |

@ seaviper, how big of a bottle of water? I have an ATV that is pretty close to scale to this and weighs 1 lb. I shaved off 1/2 lb. by changing the wheels form the hard plastic to some on rubber. The heli full weight is close to 15 lbs.@ Tailkiller, I don't know if we will make Panama City this year as it is just me and the old dog now but, we are going to the event near Savannah.RonI didn't crash. I have been slingloading a 16 oz bottle of water in preparation for the pint size bambi bucket. I am sure i could lift 3 or 4 pounds with no problem. Slingloading does reduce flight time though. I use a timer as backup and my frsky lipo sensor as primary indicator that i need to land. I have the system programmed to alert me when any cell gets to 3.7v. This way my flight time is maximized. And I usually end up with 3.8v/cell back on the bench. |

@ seaviper, what does yours weigh?. I am just shy of 15lbs.I tried a sling load today. It was mostly good, until the pendulum effect started. Then my shaking thumbs didn't help either. I tried to get it close to the ground before dropping it (didn't want to break my new atv) when I hit the wrong switch, throttle hold, oops. luckily no damage just rattled nerves. will try again tomorrow, maybe. Yeah man you got to practice flipping that switch. It's a lot harder than it seems. When the bambi bucket gets here, I will have to operate yet another switch. If you get the pendulum going, just get into forward flight. I did have to punch off a sling load a couple weeks ago though because the pendulum effect was too much. It was swinging from skid to skid and getting worse. But that was on a windy day.EDIT My takeoff weight is 9 pounds. We should start a sling load thread. Maybe I can get some video and photos this weekend. |

I am all for a slinging thread, just as soon as I get a little more comfortable with it. There is a video of it, it is kind of ugly so I wont post it. Now it is just some Vbar adjusting to get throttle hold moved to another switch and the right amount of tail precomp so it will lift off under the torque without the tail trying to move around.RonI didn't crash.
