Hi Rudy, Based on my experience, it's the number of teeth. For Hirobo Eagles and Freyas, the white gears have 93, 95 and 97T. The dark grey have 91T. Not sure what else is different. Hope this helps you. Bill

Thx.

Dark Gear 0412-291 89T
White Gear 0412-269 87T

I guess the dark gear offers better gear ratio?

I also think they are made of different material and the white ones are less noisy. I cant tell my electric SDX has black gears and my nitro SDX has white gears.
