IRCHA BATTLE OF THE BRANDS
IRCHA BATTLE OF THE BRANDS

One pilot, one machine, one flight

At the 2016 IRCHA Jamboree, we will be hosting the first ever Battle of the Brands Competition. This event will be held on Saturday August 6th, beginning at 6:00pm. We have decided to move the midday Saturday show to dinnertime, to allow everyone to attend the event.

Event Rules

1. Each Platinum and Gold Sponsor may submit the name of one pilot.

2. Each pilot will be allowed a single flight with one helicopter. The pilot may fly electric or nitro.

3. Flight time is limited to 5 minutes. Any crashes before 3 minutes results in pilot elimination.

4. No required maneuvers. Pilots will fly a 3D flight to music.

5. There shall be no props, or theatrics. The battle is between the pilot and the machine.

6. A pilot may only fly for one brand, as this is one pilot, one machine, one flight.

Entry Submission

IRCHA must be informed of the pilot representing the company via email. Entry submission may come from either the pilot or pilot’s sponsor. Both the pilot and the sponsor being represented must decide upon which company the pilot will represent. IRCHA shall not be responsible if the pilot enters himself for the wrong sponsor. All entry submissions are final, therefore sponsor and pilot should mutually agree prior to entry submission.

Voting

For two years IRCHA has used a text to vote system for our night fly competition and we are confident that it will offer us the best available option for voting. At the conclusion of the competition, we will activate the text to vote system and allow this system to remain open for a set period of time. At the conclusion of the voting window, the text to vote system will be shut down. The pilot receiving the greatest number of votes will be named as the winner of the event.

Now for the part that will get your attention

IRCHA has decided that supporting companies should have the opportunity to win something for all the support they give to the pilots. We are excited to announce that the Battle of the Brands pilots will be flying for their Sponsor to win either a free Gold Sponsorship at the 2017 IRCHA Jamboree or half off of a 2017 IRCHA Platinum Sponsorship. (prize has no cash value, no substitutions allowed, and may only be redeemed at the 2017 IRCHA Jamboree, sponsors may not share a pilot in the Battle or the winning sponsorship)

We hope that each of you will be excited about this new competition and eager to have your best pilot fly in front of the biggest crowd.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We will be making the pilot announcements as soon as each of you makes us aware of the chosen pilot. Your pilot name must be submitted to us by August 1st.

Flights are scheduled for 5 minutes each. The plans are to end at 7:30. No pee breaks, no intermission. Cattle prods may be used to encourage the schedule.

The top 3 were extremely good, Kyle Dahl had the most intricate and beautiful execution, Kyle Stacey was the most entertaining,
Nick was right in there but crashed. His flight did counted per rules as he met the minimum time required.

In my eyes Dahl won, but you cannot deny Kyle Stacey's showmanship and craft, he had the crowd WOW-ing and screaming. He earned IT.

It was a great effort from Nick when you consider this was his 8th day on the grounds (hot week), winning the top place in FAI to represent the USA in next year's Worlds, also winning the new F3N competition format, both huge accomplishments.
I still consider him the best overall pilot in the USA, and the world.

Congrats to all the winners.

I am sure Nick would rather me not mention this, but most everyone does not know that Nick actually flew all day Saturday and during the Battle after burning his hand from a battery accident.

He had some skin that was a little well done, along with some thumb numbness and twitching.

I only want to mention this, not as a reason for him not winning, but as a testament to his dedication to the hobby. As Santiago mentioned, he spent an entire week competing in the Team Trials for both F3C and F3N, winning first place in both. I think Nick will be the first pilot in FAI history to compete in both F3C and F3N at the World Championship level.

We as a hobby, and Futaba as a company are all lucky to have Nick Maxwell represent us.

Chas1025,
Absolutely, my post was not to be taken as an excuse for not winning the battle, but to highlight how much he did and accomplished that week. Nick has always been and still is an example of excellence and professionalism.

Huh??????

Nick is an employee of Futaba Japan's US division. He has major job responsibilities in industrial radio control and in working closely with Hobbico on the model side with sales and product development. He is not paid one thin dime for by anyone for competition or for how he places. His job status with Futaba would not change if he ceased competing. He turned himself into a crimson lobster in the sun preparing hours each day for the Nats because he wanted to, not because of a check. His feat of winning not only F3C but also F3N flying against Jamie is nothing less than amazing.

Glad many of you are bringing up all of the hard work / accomplishments for Nick leading up to this event. Not that Kyle didn't do a nice job, but my list was different. All were great and did a nice job.

1. Nick
2. Mitch
3. Kyle S.

Note:
We are lucky to have someone like Nick representing our hobby. He ranks at the top for me next to Curtis Y.
