TREX 470LM ESC Voltage Question (RCE-BL50X)I'm almost finished with the build of my 470LM and noticed something strange with the RCE-BL50X ESC (specifically....the BEC). I performed all of my radio setup with a NiMh running at ~6.5Volts. Everything worked fine.
Next I set the speed control BEC to 6.5Volts and verified with a meter. When I plugged in the ESC to power the system....one cyclic servo jammed full travel and didn't recover (I quickly removed power to avoid damage). After several tries, I decided to measure the system radio voltage while plugging in the RCE-BL50X ESC. To my surprise...I found out that the BEC voltage powers up at 5V until the speed control initializes then transitions to the 6.5V setpoint. I'm not certain if this is normal....but I don't remember seeing this after years of dealing with CC speed controls. Note that the specified minimum voltage for the servos is 6V.
Do all of the RCE-BL50X's power up in the same fashion? Any observations or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! I'm wondering if the BEC switcher noise is bothering a more sensitive servo when operating below spec voltage at startup. Seems like no power should be output until at the voltage set-point (initializing take a couple seconds)
