Space X stuck another one!
Two first stage booster landings in a row on their drone ship, all the more remarkable as the booster came back from a GTO (Geostationary Transfer Orbit) flight profile.

I love watching these launches and landings!

too bad they roast the bottom half upon reentry...resulting in rebuilding 2/3 of the recovered rocket...showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Will they? You don't think others have thought of reusable rockets and abandoned the idea? What about all that extra weight they carry for landing. Doesn't that decrease throw weight? Call me a skeptic.

Maybe they'll prove me wrong, and if so great, but I doubt it. Ten years from now when spacex folds, I'll have a big told you so moment to a whole lot of people who have no clue how of basic engineering principles.

Flight was supposedly impossible back in the day. We got that figured out. Space flight was supposed to be impossible, we are figuring that out, as the technologies are still evolving.

Breaking the sound barrier was supposed to be impossible. Tell that to Chuck Yeager.

Light bulbs? Edison made hundreds, if not thousands, before he cracked that puzzle. Even a failure is a success if you can learn something from it and move forward.

Agreed on Yeager. I almost met him when he did an appearance at Little Rock Air Force Base. I was about four people away from him in a line of people for a scheduled "meet and greet" when he decided that he'd had enough for the day. And anyone within earshot knew exactly what he felt about the day.

I suppose that when you have truly "been there, done that, and in the history books to prove it" calling the shots is within your rights.

here is the way I see it...

yes, people say it can't be done...and yet someone will figure it out sooner or later...

YET...we are still squirting fire out one end of a tube akin to rockets made by the Chinese 100s of years ago.... we are still flying using wings that mother nature perfected millions of years ago...

were is all the anit-gravity stuff?...I mean seriously we have buildings full of people taking about the science of black holes as if it what they are and how they operate is fact, yet we cant even manage to get a human beyond the moon yet...

And that's why I said we are still figuring out this whole space flight/planetary/interstellar space flight thing. We are making baby steps, but steps we are making!

We are getting there, slow but surely.
