Jive Jumper
So is the jumper for a Jive 80HV the same as a specktrum binding plug? Jump the same pins? I ask because my used jive came without a jumper...

Frank you can modify the speck bind plug to be like the K jumper the speck has the contacts on the outside just move one of them to the middle and use it like the K jumper.Team Kontronik Germany

In the case of Spektrum you are jumping the signal pin to the ground pin. I would guess it would be the same with others. You would not want to jump + to ground... that might get exciting. (and costly)

So be sure what you are doing, when you make up jumpers. Take the time, look it up.

in the case of the Jive it's a 2 pin jumper. There's no way to do it wrong. When there's no jumper on, the two pins are open. When you put it on it shorts across. It's not the same spacing as Spektrum, which is a standard servo plug that shorts the outer two of three pins.

And, yes it's just a common computer jumper. If you have an old PC or hard drive sitting collecting dust, you'll likely find a few just sitting there.

You might want to put a piece of tape on it for the jive though...when you fully seat it you'll have a fun time trying to pull it back out. The Jive one has a rubber tab on it that extends out of the housing of the ESC.
if it ain't broke, break it.

The Jive Data port is the same spacing as a standard servo connector! The pin configuration is different in its assignment starting from the outside corner is -,signal,+ that said you are shorting - and signal with the jumper ,Never - to + like the default pin config for the spek plug, one pin has to be moved to the middle before using a spek plug!!Team Kontronik Germany

Actually, you can. The Jive port actually has three pins. You have to jump the to pins closest to the SIDE of the ESC (you will see arrows on the bottom of the ESC that point to those two pins), if you put the jumper on the wrong two, it will never go into program mode and you will frustrate the crap out of yourself trying to figure out why....been there....done that

Indeed.

The most important take home is that if you short the wrong pins, you won't let out the magic smoke

What is important is if you do use a Spektrum bind plug that you don't by accident use it on a receiver as it could short out the power rail.

I notice that you could also use a V Bar NEO bind plug with the same modification.
