what was the reason for the re-designed frames was it for a clutch set up? or to get rid of the vibration you had.
both reasons really, plus the mechs kept stripping the main gear ( one tooth at a time causing the clicking sound) and we had the one way bearing let go from the metal pulley. it is pressed in and wasn't trusted it wouldn't happen again. The shake it has left me scratching my head as I tried everything under the sun to figure out where it was coming from and couldn't. Finally I gave up and suggested Roy do the same thing I did with my roban Astar and switch to my own design mechs which eliminates the belt drive train and use a simple main gear with a pinion gear design.

Thanks Emile, do you think this is a common issue with the Roban mechs or this one in particular. Great job on the re-build I'm scratching my head do I want to buy one of these?

well the thing is, I have seen these machines fly and some have no issues with them and they appear and sound really smooth. the mechs in my astar was never smooth, and it was noisy. I added the clutch to my original mechs in my astar and flew it for a while but it eventually got changed because I didn't like the control sytem, (my personal taste) and I ended up just redesigning the whole thing. Roys mechs started off very smooth but on 2nd test flight his tube drive's end plug unscrewed from the tube causing a mishap. replaced parts and then the wobble ( not really a vibration just a side to side wobble of the mechs) showed up and after changing main shafts, blade, bearings, rotor heads, swashplates, I finally gave up and talked Roy into a total redesign. I made a set of mechs for my 1/6 scale 429 ( I got the fuse without mechs in a trade) and am doing the same in a smaller package for his.
I wouldn't recommend against buying this machine as by now many changes has been made and everyone seems to have a smooth trouble free setup flying well

Well Emile stopped by the house and did a test fit of the homemade mechanics in my 429. We installed the tailboom to check alignment and it is perfect. It looks awesome and the best part of it is that he engineered a clutch into the system.

Well today I tried to get some work done on my 429.

The full scale 429 comes with black trim around the windows but the Roban does not. My buddy and mentor Emile/Copterdoctor suggested using black electrical cord which I picked at Dollar Tree for $1USD.

I then used a "new and better" super glue from Germany which my wife bought on QVC at $19.99 for two bottles. It is clear, super strong as they claim and only needs you to hold it for 10-15 second and it is done.

the glue dispenser

a full scale 429 window with black trim

Roban 429 window with no black trim as it comes from RCA

Roban 429 window after installation of the black trim

The glue goes on clear and I held it for 10-15 seconds and it stayed put as claimed. They claim super holding strength and after checking it seems to want to stay put. either way I don't see anything or anyone pulling on it and I am very happy with the results.

Thanks guys! So far it seems to dry clear and is super strong. I see a lot of uses for the glue and plan on buying more. Just need to catch my wife perusing QVC again LOL.

Hi guys, hope Santa was good to you all and that the new year brings y'all many blessings.

I haven't done anything with the heli as I'm recuperating from surgery and spend my days drugged up and sleeping.

I have more scale details to add to my 429 and I believe it will stand out from the other prepainted SS 429s.

Until then, I wish you all and your families many blessings in the new year!!
