well, I placed the decals on the stabs and tailboom. I realized my hands are not as steady as they used to be apparently LOL

When I to place the danger arrow, I looked at pics of full scale 429s, and although it does not look right, that is the correct placement probably because of the clamshell doors.

Now I need to fix the chip I put in the tail fin and paint it so I can place the decals on there and install the fin on the fuse.

Thanks Emile
Wish we would have had more time but when I get back from this work trip to California we'll get together.

Besides the non slip surface on the steps I added it to the skids also.
I went to a skateboard store and they had nonslip paper (sandpaper) with a super sticky backing. Just cut then peel the back and apply.
I guess I'm getting old and can't cut straight lines anymore so will buy a paper cutter LOL

I've always said Roban is very responsive to its clients.

Well, as I mentioned earlier, while drilling the tail fin to install the white tail light on the back I messed it up. Got a little too anxious LOL

Well, I contacted Roban and they provided me with a replacement fin in blue! Thank you Roban!

I will def be at Dalton this year and bring this scaler. Emile is building me mechanics for it so it may not be flying.
Nothing wrong with the Roban mechanics, just changing some things for personal taste. I am using Roban mechs in my Roban 407 tho

I've seen this 429 up close and it's a beauty. I tried to pry it out of Roy's hands but his wife wasn't having that

Can't wait to see it in the air Roy!

Thanks Jay!

Emile has been trying hard to finish the mechs and keeps me updated with pics! I am looking forward to testing the mechs when finished and with Emile's skills it should fly great!

I am adding more scale details and bits to it this weekend which will really add to the looks.

Well today I was able to do some work on my 429. The 429 tail fin comes with the hole for the top red light but not for the white tail light. I tried making the hole on the original fin and cracked it due to rushing the job.
Roban replaced the fin for me and so today I took my time. I drilled a pilot hole then covered it with blue tape then slowly enlarged the hole so the light would fit from the inside. It would be easier to place it from the outside but I'm hard headed LOL.

But it's done and looks decent I think.

Tail light
Yes the light is identical to the ones that come with the kit.

I was surprised myself at how bright it looks.

Ok, Emile was at a nearby town so stopped at my house on his way home.
He brought the mechs he's building for my 429 to size it up and check that all the mounting holes match and check for room for the electronics, etc. it looks good thus far.

We also looked at the controls that came with the 429. The collective stick has some detail on it but the cyclic is flat with zero detail. I will highlight the buttons etc on the collective and make buttons on the cyclic. Then I will paint them so they stand out.

I am in the process of painting my 50 size Century Long Ranger in the old Miami-Dade colors.
So while outside painting I put together a FLIR for the 429 and painted it in flat black. I will wet sand it to get it smooth then mount it on the nose. I will start on the searchlight next.

Yes Jay, the frames look real good and are made to accept a clutch so I'm looking forward to the end result also.
Emile has been busting his butt (and brain) to get these done and done right.
Family life and work keeps Emile very busy or I'd be hanging on his shoulder to learn how to do what he does LOL

coming along nice Roy, sorry for a repeat question what was the reason for the re-designed frames was it for a clutch set up? or to get rid of the vibration you had.
