Bare with me on this please.
last night I offered to buy a set of cyclic servos from a member here who posted them in the classifieds. In his defense, he did state paypal verified address required. Ok , so I remitted payment, knowing my paypal is verified. today I get a pm stating he refunded the coin because my delivery address wasn't a verified address. Here is where it gets interesting.
I pm him back to let him know my feedback is 100% positive, and that as a 52 year old I am no punk out to get over anyone, and that I have no intentions of ever doing so. He replied if I was to email him and state this is where I want my servos delivered he would send them but should something happen along the way, he wouldn't be responsible for it. Now this got me thinking and I replied back stating that I felt a bit concerned now because for all I know, he could send me a box of pebbles and claim he sent my servos!
His reply was... I have 100% positive feedback and I do not sell junk!
My reply to that was.. Exactly! My feedback is 100% positive as well! isn't that a bit hypocritical of you to throw that back as a defense?

So I ask you all here. What makes this ok on one side of the coin but not ok for the other?
I take great pride in my feedback and seller as well as buyer reputation. But just seems to me this member could just as easily scammed me as he thinks for some reason I was going to rip him off.
This is what this hobby has come to with all the jerks who have stolen or filed false claims against good members here.

I dont get it either, my PayPal sometimes showes confirmed address other times its unconfirmed....wtf ,trying to get this figured out.. Lucky for me its not been a problem. This is why buyer feedback is as important as seller feedback is. Got to be an easier way to add buyer feedback here on RR....it would sure help in cases like these.

I dont sell much here but I do buy a lot of things here in the classified

All you have to do is:
- get your address verified on Pay Pal
Or
- send him the e-mail as requested

If you are not comfortable, just move on. The buyer is subject to the seller's conditions.

If you still want to proceed with the purchase, just record yourself accepting and opening up the package. I have some RC Logger video glasses, whenever I have a transaction I'm on edge about, I would wait for my delivery and have the whole process recorded. I know this is a lot of effort but it's what I have came up with to deal with these situation.

BTW
This is not as bad as when a seller sales the item under you! Ergh!!!!!!!!

Usually communication, a level head, well selected words and some negotiation technique will help.

Maybe I can help. If the "seller" so happens to read this, PM me with Mr Dan's address, I will confirm his address for you. I have done business with him and can vouch for him.

And, quickly I might add.

That kinda crap will be "strung out" beyond the PayPal time limit.

It seems to be a VERY "black-and-white" situation; either you have a verified paypal addy or you dont. Simple stuff, no need to turn it into a soap opera.

I don't want to sound like a wet blanket but the terms were clear, verified addresses only. If your address was verified we wouldn't be having this conversation. Sounds like the guy was still willing to work with you but now you are balking. Why not go back and get your address verified and keep this simple?

Understood, My home address is verified. I thought because I am verified it would be smooth, but becasue I want it sent to my po box for security reasons thats where the knot came into play. Reason I use my po box is because of 700.00 worth of tattoo inks that got stolen from the front of my house where the mail man left them. Now we have all items we buy sent to our po box. I am calling paypal to have this address verified. Hopefully this will be ok.
My point was simple.. If your feedback is to be respected, shouldnt mine be as well?.

I think what you are forgetting is that Paypal offers some level of protection to the seller ONLY IF YOU SHIP TO A VERIFIED ADDRESS.

This was not some little nit-picky requirement he made up. If he were to ship to a verified address and the package gets lost, Paypal will offer some protection.

If the package was sent to a non-verified address Paypal tells you to pound sand.

This is 100% why you got the reaction from him you did. Paypal won't help if it gets lost and he doesn't want to be on the hook either.

I don't think he was looking to screw you over. And, he wasn't calling your integrity in to question. You both have 100% feedback here. But, Paypal doesn't care.

if it ain't broke, break it.

I understand. I am calling paypal to have my po box verified rather than my home address. I just don't like anything sent to my home address anymore. hes a cool guy and we worked it all out.
