Hello

I have been working part-time on a 450 helicopter. It is originally a Blade 450X. It has a Scorpion 2221-8 motor 12t @ 86% throttle curve and upgraded parts included the entire tail minus the plastic tail grips. I recently tried a different tail servo made by Savox; it has very similar specs but it is stronger and .025 seconds slower at .08. Before I could use %30-%60 tail gain but now I am finding it needs %75-%80. The heli sits around alot while i build other things. The 80% was in a hover but I think I can make some mechanical adjustments to lower it a bit but is this a Normal occurrence. To have a tail require high percentage? I will probably be putting my carbon fiber tail blades on it which are only slightly larger but I'm still nervous to take it instead of just putting a new stock Servo in. If you see my dilemma. Thank you so much

Ar

When the gain is lowered the helicopter would spin but I believe I need a shorter linkage. I think it is still a valid question

You can try moving the ball on the tail servo horn in. This will give the servo less travel to get the same pitch. Did you fly it with the original servo after you changed all of the tail parts? Are you using the same servo horn on both servos and did the servo slide on the tail boom to make it sit in a different location than the original? It might be worth the test to just put the original back in and see if you have to go back to the lower gain.

It has flown before very well. The linkage was too short i believe. Now I have a better feel for the setup. I believe I found the issue. I just need to reprogram the tail end points and will post results. Horn was slightly long and linkage was short. doh

Sounds like you are on the right track. Let me know how it turns out.

Everything SEEMS fine but it is super soft and I'm worried to even try a lower Gain; it spins at anything lower. Im over that servo and I have a faster one that I know will work in the mail. Makes me nervous about heli's in general; how sensitive and un-testable, But this should be really good.

Which servo did you get? Have you tried it out yet?

It totally sucked! no worries tho. I almost lost hope in helicopters but I have determined my Align 500 will work I'm sure I can figure it out.

The Servo arm must be the incorrect length or My gain must be set too high and I'm not interested in experimenting with it. When I order the new Standard Servo it will work fine.

It is just hanging out; the flight simulator works great on my new computer build. The sensitivity of the tail configuration PLUS that everyone ignores the subject of TAILS. I'm assuming the Align Tail will be a better experience. Honestly though I'm sure the difference is laughable.
Right. <-- chuckles

Thank You for asking!
