Symptoms of static?
I've had my 550sx since it's debut. No issues flies great for many years so far.

Got an idea to stretch it 550se size, cut down 25 mm boom, 600 blades.

Did it last night and flew 2 full packs at lunch without incident to get fuel readings, temps and flight time gauges.

Went back out on my way home from work- somewhere about 3 or 4 minutes in I'm feeling pretty confident at this point, at about 10 feet off the deck BANG!!! The thing flips around like it lost something on the tail.... Seemed to do a third or 1/2 piro.
I hit throttle hold and landed it in the grass/weeds.

I was tired when I finished building last night and neglected to verify my ground- found out I had inserted my boom about 1/4" short. I run my ground wire to the front slot and screw in where you can pin the boom from rotating.

Sorted that out, verified with my ohm meter and took it back out for a couple minutes everything felt fine.

Does/ would the log show static as? Vibration, voltage? Does it log it in some fashion to verify?

I'd hate to have it pop in an inverted backward hurricane at head high...

I've always had my logos grounded from the start heeding the advise here.

And I must say it flies really nice.
I like light and floaty and I feel it has been achieved in this configuration. I also love the look of the 25mm boom.

Ok log shows
2:41 sensor connection broken,
2:41 all 3 axis sensor values out of range,
2:42 sensor connection broken

2:43 gov mode stop (throttle hold)
2:53 high vibration level (landing)

My sensor and antenna wires are the closest to the boom. Roughly 10mm or so.

Last flight showed no errors.. Guessing static might have hit the sensor wire.

No checksum errors.

Hi Steve
That's exactly what happened to me when the ground wire wasn't connected properly.
When I had the old logo 14 that used to do a 180 piro on its own every now and again, took me ages to find what was wrong, changed servos then gyro, all down to static.
This was before the days of vbar, where now it tells you what's wrong.

Grounding is very important with a "belted" heli.

Glad your issue was successfully solved.
