Anybody Here Fly in Greenville SC Area? + Joe Nall Pictures
My wife and I are leaving CA and heading out East.

We will be staying in the Greenville, SC area for a while.

Was wondering if anybody flies in that area. Looking for AMA clubs to check out.

Thanks.

It is not what you are asking for, but at least you will be in Triple
Tree/Joe Nall country Of course, not sure how close that is to
Greenville?

Got to get out to that site someday!

I live about 10 miles east of Greenville. I used to fly a ton. Then we moved down from Michigan 3 years ago. I found that helis are not nearly as prevalent than what I was used too. I have since sold most of my stuff and no fly Pattern Planes. Are you moving here or just passing through??? Like previous comment Joe Nall is only a 1/2 hour away.

Thanks guys.

I'm actually, finally here in SC. My little wife and I just got a nice apartment. So we will be here for a bit.

I guess I'll look up Joe Nall to see where it is, and how far it is.

Thanks again everyone.

Hey guys.

I went on AMA website, and according to their website it looks like there are a number of clubs in this area.

Here is a list of the fields/clubs listed:

Curry's Lake Flyers

Western Carolina RC

Blue Ridge Radio Control

Black Sheep RC

Triple Tree Aviators

Foothill Flyers

Are any of you guys from one of these clubs???

Thanks.

Triple tree is where the Joe Nall event is at. It is next week, and it's an extremely large flying event. Not sure if it's the largest in the world, but must be close if it's not. I think the "locals" fly there regularly. fullscale grass runway. Hanger with numerous fullscale aircraft. lakes for float flying.

We're leaving sunday morning to make the yearly drive over there.

everything is there. The fullscale grass runway is 7000 feet long but there's a lot of room past one end so it's probably a couple or three more thousand feet in reality. When you enter, the first thing is the heli area. Drive a bit further and it's the "classic" line. Giant scale airplanes, normal flight patterns with basic aerobatics. A little further and on the other side of the road is the lake for float flying. They've flown 1/2 scale stuff on floats there and there's tons of excess room. Drive a little further (the road that parallels the runway) and it's the electric flight area. Go down to the far end and the 3D area is on the other side of the runway (all sizes up to 40+% planes doing 3D) and it has its own, smaller lake. Coming back up on the other side of the fullscale runway behind the tower is the control line circle.

I belong to Western Carolina RC. Its only about 10 miles from Simpsonville.

As far as Triple Tree there is no actual flying club there. And most that fly down there are volunteers who help out. Besides special RC events.

They have helis there this week but it is extremely small crowd for helis. However anything else that flies will be there and some of the worlds top ranked RC pilots will be flying all week.

You should stop by our Western Carolina field and check it out.. Great group of guys.

Just got back from Joe Nall.

GINORMOUS!

Saw some awesome 3D flying with some monster airplanes. Fantastic to watch.

Also saw a huge, beautiful red jet flying on the main/"classic" field too.

That is one huge field!

Got some great pics with my Nikon D810. I'll post them later.

I think my wife and I hiked about 5 miles today. No wonder there were about 200 to 300 golf carts to rent!
