High torque gasoline and electric motors can swing larger props at lower rpm to achieve desired thrust compared to glow engines.

Small high rpm electrics can be screamers, BUT not for long flights. They make plenty of noise for about 2 minutes.

Additionally, we witness many noisy high rpm electric helix, like goblins.

Did the county also pull the plug on lawnmowers, chainsaws, motorcycles/quads, and large trucks due to "noise"?

It's amazing what these governments, both federal and local, can get away with these days.

The current numbers were 172,322 members with 2327 clubs.
WOW!!!!! They are binging in $12,0652,540 just this year so far??? Where is all that money going???? I don't think I have ever heard of them paying out a claim??? If they have used any of it for any type of legal crap for all the drone junk that was wasted money.

We too are now looking for a new field. Ours is due to the land owner thinks she is sitting on a gold mine. But I know our club reached out to AMA as well and got nothing. Just a bunch of super land fills. Funny thing is this club did the same thing 15 years ago. And wouldn't you know it, the list of sites was exactly the same?

If it weren't for all the clubs being bullied into AMA crap, making all members have it to fly there I don't think I would even bother with them.

I did not realize that I needed acoustical data to write a comment here. I really think that recognizing that every one has rights is paramount. If you are way out in the country, who cares, but if you are near homes, a bit of respect goes a long way.

I really hate it when the dirt bike gang goes riding behind my house. It just penetrates the house like there are no walls or windows.

There is a bike gang that rides wheelies for hours outside our flying field... they make more noise than we ever have.

If you can muffle some noise, why not? If you can get rid of some prop noise by changing size or RPM, why not? Try looking for a muffler for that 0.61CI nitro motor...do any have mufflers, or are they just pipes providing a bit of back pressure? I know that more could be done, if we wanted to. Nobody buys it, so nobody makes it.

I will be submitting acoustical data and analysis later.

As my club found out at our former field, you can be operating within the local statutes for noise levels and still lose your field. Few clubs have resources to fight a legal battle that could be won but at a cost of bankrupting a club. Trying to find new fields these days is extremely difficult with those clubs that also have planks requiring the better part of 30-60 open acres plus some buffer for noise for neighbors. It becomes a tall order to find a field in anything approaching a suburban area without help for parks and recreation, a dump, or similar.

The more this stuff happens, the more glad I am that I bought 27 acres when I had a chance.

An open letter to my county commissioners:

I would rise in strong dissatisfaction to the limitations imposed on the flying at our wonderful model aircraft flying site/park...We as a club have bent over backwards to try and work with our neighbors to no avail...I own over 50 model aircraft and live in Pensacola due to the wonderful model park that over 130 members of our club enjoyed. Now we are forced not to fly many of our models that most have thousands of dollars invested in...This field called Fritz field was established through a long negotiation process that ended at the then Gov. Bush's office, with his support for our club and the great effort from Mr. Fritz this park came into being some 30 years ago. This club supports this community in many ways , Toys for Tots every year, Supports the Civil air patrol by hosting a day of flying to encourage the young aviators on their path into aviation, hold public displays in our community so the general public will come to know this model club for what we are. This year we will be part of the relay for life to help support the cause of fighting cancer . We are a very community oriented organization as we have displayed .
The action of stopping us from flying our "nitro" aircraft" will have a very devastating effect on our club and the members thereof and negatively affect the Pensacola community in whole....

Well said brother.
Make sure you send that to the county council meeting and all its members. And that you will not vote for them in the future....thats where it will hurt them.
Its a shame that an activity the promotes community activity in a positive way is bashed to pieces by comunity leaders. We are systematically being deined our freedom to enjoy our lives.....

Our club is only 5 min from Bonney Lake......just sayin....

Maybe its time to get a DB meter and head to the HS football field on Friday night. I'm five blocks away and can here everything the announcer says and every time they score. The flying field was never that noisy.
