Gents- today my rubber tank stopper actually "pushed-out" of the tank during flight. I heard the engine starting to change sounds and very quickly got it down.

Upon inspection, the metal tank stopper was easily pushed back into the tank. I ordered a new rubber stopper for good measure. I'm thinking to silicone this one into place.

Anyone else see that this metal piece fits to easily into the rubber stopper?
Thx Jim

Silicon RTV will not help and it is eaten by the fuel

I would look for the reason it popped out
The new rubber is a good start.

I would suspect the pressure in the tank was too high.
I'd look at the 1-way check valve (if you have crankcase pressure) or the pressure coming out of the pipe (if you use muffler pressure).

And once you re-seat the metal part of the fuel plug, pull on it to see if it is a loose fit or well seated.
You can lube it a little with some fuel before you insert it. But, it shouldn't slip out with a gentle pull

Thanks,

I believe the issue is solved: I received the replacement rubber stopper & metal nipple. SAB is nice and include 2 new rubber stoppers in one bag.

The new stopper is larger than the original. The outer flange is much wider, and the fit is very tight. I believe there was a revision to this part somewhere along the way.
Thx Jim

Got a test flight in on a windy day this weekend, tank held pressure perfectly, no slippage-out of the stopper.Team Futaba
