Interesting.
Thanks for that. I always thought that it was no metal period.

If used for scale flying, metal blades are allowed (if rotor diameter is larger than 1800mm). Metal blades on an aerobatic helicopter are not permitted.

Anyone see Kill Bill? Hatori Hanzo swords? And we have Hatori mufflers?

Illuminati confirmed.

Call up Hatori and ask for three Hatori Hanzos.

But let's go with at least an 8mm spindle. You know, for safety.

There's a lead ballast of 25grs and a wire that runs to length of the blade like a whipper snipper of steel. Add to that the sharpness of cf and resin plastic hardened and a sometimes sharp leading edge and you lack the entry profile of the katana but you have more mass in motion with the heli blade.

This topic could be pulled off the rails with all kinds of lethal elements thrown in for measure, there are some things you just don't talk about because some brain dysfunctional sub human being will undoubtedly be the one to say and demonstrate they are the first to use a heli to intentionally cause dire issues with the world around them by taking ideas gleaned from topics like this and bringing them into reality.

This topic runs right up to guns and ammo, anything with lethal potential. Your typical 700 heli is not far in scope to that why emphasize it? Drawing more negative attention to what is already a known factor.

At these head speeds... both are deadly. I would think that the metal would have greater strength than the carbon fiber.

I found this chart regarding the engineering properties of CF versus various other products.

Just about any heli at or above 450 sized is worrisome. If the blade is damaged, time to think replacement.

I don't think so. Everything was in jest. NO one is going to use sword blades on a heli. This is nothing like guns and ammo. A glass of water has lethal potential... just like a cup of "mother's milk". This is nowhere near a problem. Never has been. As to drawing negative attention??????
Stop posting about battery fires. There. We are all safe now and no one will know.
