It's been forever since I've last visited this sight, I used to fly heli's a lifetime ago. Now jumping into the Drone flying, a little. This forum looks pretty empty but, howdy all. To quote mr Floyd "Is there anybody out there"? :-)

I've got the Chroma with the st10+ and cgo3 camera setup. Only had it about a month. I've been one RR since 2001.

How do you like it. I put 3 flights on mine last weekend. Hoping to get a couple in this weekend. This time of year the flying is really iffy in this area

6 flights on mine. Very quick to get a GPS lock. Very stable. Did fly it one day with gusts to 26 mph. Great video. 30+ minute flight time. Still getting used to the spring centered left stick, especially since flying fixed wing since 1968 and helis since the mid 70s.

Over all, way better than my first generation 350QX/GoPro combo.

How do you guys like the ST10+? I use Dx7 and my own camera and transmitter so I don't have the telemetry feedback. Thinking of getting a full set up too

I fly my original 350 QX with a DX9 and a GoPro Hero 3. I thought this was a nice combo until I got the Chroma rig. The ST10+ fits my hands well and all the controls are logically placed.

This is my first FPV quad, and as such, I still find myself flying it LOS, just glancing at the screen to confirm where the camera is pointed. The telemetry is a nice feature and will surely be more useful as I get more comfortable with FPV flight.

I like my chroma and have got some very nice videos with it. I too don't think I like the centering left stick because it makes the other agility mode harder to fly for me anyway but I probably won't use that much anyway but it would be fun to get some high speed flying videos in that mode once in awhile.
The follow and tracking mode is cool but I've almost crashed twice when using this mode. Once I was going up a slight hill and didn't even realize I was going up that much and it almost hit the ground when I wasn't watching it. One other time I did loose GPS lock and the transmitter vibrated snd said to fly manually so not a big deal since there was very little wind. If it is windy and it does that though you could loose it pretty quick as it floats away with the wind. I don't know why it did that because it still showed I had over 10 satelites on the controller and it didn't even try to get GPS back. It just said to fly manual until I landed and started flight over. I'm not too worried about it just always be ready to take over manual flight mode and don't hit RTH mode because that's going to work.

Here is one of my videos

I fly mine LOS too and use the video only to make sure I have the view I want recorded. I have a monitor set up on a tripod next to me when flying so I can check the view easily. I have a couple of 250 racers that I fly on the goggles but have not considered using the goggles on the Chroma. I have heard of several lost GPS during flight and the fact that I would not have any indication of GPS loss except for the lights on the Chroma is a concern. I would have no trouble flying it in manual(I fly helis and planks) I just wonder about my reaction time in reading the lights and correctly flying the Chroma.
Toadster, your video is really cool, I like the snowy view.

The one time I lost GPS the transmitter vibrated and warning popped up on the display telling I had lost GPS. I think the key is to not panic and for sure don't bother with RTH because it won't work. Just fly it back. If you can't see it look at the camera view and then point if toward home and push the right stick forward

Thanks. I had heard a few hundred feet for video range and was curious if that is what you were seeing

While I can't be sure, I feel that this quad is on the verge of being discontinued at Horizon. Extremely depressed pricing and nothing new in the pipeline is consistent with their past practices. Examples would be their series of 500, 600, and 700 sized helis. These were great helis but were discontinued with blow-out pricing. My bet is that the Chroma series of quads is going to go through the same thing. Too bad, as it is a nice system.

I am wondering the same thing. I hope to take advantage of the blow out pricing and pick up the 4K ST10+ system, just don't have the extra funds available at this time. Hope I do before they disappear

I think I've been at least 500 ft away with no problems. I'm sure it will go farther than that. I think there are a few videos out there on YouTube showing range. I have no doubt the chroma is on the way out. Question is whether or not they will replace it with something new? The Chroma as far as I can tell is made by yuneec and they have some new things coming mainly the typhoon H. It looks pretty nice but the question is will blade release a version of it or something similar to it. If Blade does replace the Chroma my guess is they will have a quad version of the yuneec typhoon H with the same transmitter and the obstical avoidance system. Probably will have waypoints too.

I just bought my chroma after the price drop and for the money I think it's hard to beat but now that dji dropped the phantom3 pro down to $999 I'd probably buy it instead. DJI did just announce the phantom 4 for $1400 The good thing about dji is that I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon so you should have no problems getting parts into the future.

I'm not sure I would consider the Phantom, I have used a couple of Naza FCs and I did not care for them. I replaced a Naza V1 with the ET vector on a Disco and a Naza Lite with the APM on my other Disco
i do like the Chroma and my Dx7, I use a Taranis with the discos
I might have a different opinion if I flew a Phantom but I am basing it on the Naza FC experiences I have had

Yeah I've never owned anything from DJI. I'm just going off of things I've heard and reviews of the phantom 3. I have owned a lot of things from blade and been happy with most of them.

I have had very good service from HH so that means something to me. I watched a realitivly new chroma at the local hobby shop being checked out by the employees the camera had a problem. A call to HH and the hobby shop gave him a complete new setup on the spot.
I have heard long lead times for service and repairs from DJI but I cannot claim any problems myself so that is hearsay??

I do repairs at a local hobby shop. We don't sell DJI product, but I've done many repairs on a wide range of Phantoms. ESC, motor, gimbal failures. Recovered fly-aways, etc. We've sold a bunch of the Chromas and have not had one come back with a failure.

By the way, while checking this morning, Horizon consumer web site shows BLH8665 as discontinued and unavailable. This is the version with the ST-10+, the gimbal and 1080 pitch camera. Too bad, as this was/is a nice machine.
