Just wanted to show off my winter project! I built this to be my dedicated low head speed model. I did future proof it with motor and ESC, though!

Setup:
Rail 716 Mains and 106 Tails
14T/119/4.9
Pyro 700-56
Jive Pro 120+ HV
Futaba S3470SV Cyclics
Futaba BLS276SV Tail
Glacier 7S 5300mAh Flight Packs
9 lbs RTF

I love this canopy and I know it will be visable in the air. I got it from helilids.com! Great people over there and outstanding service! Check him out!

Pictured with VBar Silverline with VBC sat. However, since completing the build I decided to go Futaba after contemplating this the last few months. I just purchased an 18SZ, R7003 Rx and CGY750 to control this bird!

Sweet heli and sharp Lid. The versatility of the E5 just can't be beat. Can be configured anywhere from a 556 to 716. Amazing..

Looks great! I have An SS and an S (605's/105's). on the SS I've been flying 715's/116's, and if you work at it you can still blow the tail out at 1250 (flying 12S/4350's, 9.75 lbs, so have a high rpm also, of 1750). The tail in low rpm mode is better than anything else I've flown due to the 4.9 ratio but it was possible to blow it out if you tried, so I started experimenting. The bevel gears front and back are 18 teeth. The E7 bevel gears are 20 teeth. I spent some time in the workshop playing with things, and now have the tail ratio at 5.44 to one. Using the bevel gear in the tail gearbox, that plugs into the torque tube, I swapped to the 20 tooth from the E7. 20/18=1.11, and 1.11*the existing 4.9 is 5.439, so 5.44 after rounding It doesn't immediately fit because of a raised ring on the 20 tooth gear so I chucked it up and turned it down to the same OD as the rest of the gear. This now had the gear part contacting the outer race of the bearing, so you have to add a little taper to it to provide some spacing. Then, you need 2mm more spacing on the 18tooth gear that is on the tail output shaft, so I used some 2mm thick spacers I have to space out the left sideplate from the gearbox (http://www.aluminumspacers.com, but washers should work ). This leaves spacing on the tube that goes inside the gearbox on the ouput shaft. I found some 6mm ID shim washers and stacked enough up to remove that freeplay. Flew it last weekend and the tail is even better now. Strangely enough I didn't even have to change tail gains, meaning I was probably too low to begin with. Next thing to do if I ever get around to it, is ordering a 766 tail output shaft, which I'm told is longer. This could regain the 2mm I lost in pitch slider movement. This is NOT, I repeat NOT, a modification endorsed by Matt/Synergy, so do so at your own risk, but I find it to be an improvement for us old farts that like lower headspeeds. Definitely wouldn't recommend it for high rpm setups, but at my max of 1750, it puts my tail rpm where some folks are when they're at 1925, so it's not really very high. Again,.. this is NOT a mod officially endorsed by Synergy,.. just something I did for my lower rpm, old fart setups. Next is to do the 600 so maybe I can drop from 105's to 95/96 tailblades and eliminate the couple mm of main to tailblade overlap. it's never been an issue but it's always in the back of my mind that they overlap and it bugs me

Thanks, flyalan and Chuck! It is an amazing, high quality kit...the versatility can't be beat! I loved building this bird.

The tail gear mod makes perfect sense. I'm running IU2 at 1500 RPM giving me a tail speed of 7350, which is not quite in the sweet spot for the tail. I don't think I will blow the tail out the way I fly, though....I'll leave the mods to the pros! hehehe....
