Hi Guys in the RAF Wessex I have the old style Vario R22 Mechanics using an extended base plate to move the motor and Batteries forward. Im also using a 160 speed controller and a MX 800 Align electric Motor. When I can find the correct 4 Blade head and blades I will convert from the VR22 rotor head to what ever is best with a 18mm Blade root any idea's?
I have also lowered the Tail drive from the top of the mechanics to the bottom.

In the Queens Wessex Tony's Mechanics is a Vario Acrobat.
He will be using a Vario 4 blade head and blades with a smaller rotor diameter, I think his RD is 1800mm. We have extended the Base plate to push the gas Zenoah motor into the nose to get the correct C of G.
So far we have only maidened the RAF Wessex, and after fitting the MX 800 she is flying OK just need to sort out the tail gyro.

4 Blade head
Colin, not sure what those 2 heli's are using, looks like "Jung"
I have this "Jung" 4 blade head, it takes blades with 14mm root,
Unusual to see blades with 18mm root
I have a 3 blade set for the gazelle, but that is different to all the other Vario heads I have

Hi Peter my setup is a standard VR22 Flybar Mechanics with the Blade Root at 22mm 12 mm shaft. I contacted Stan in the US and he told me what he was using. I want the find a head 4 blade to accomodate the same Rotor head diameter as the r22 to run at 900 rpm.
Centry put out a Diomond head with a 14 mm root but I also need blades. I dont know what Jung are. Tony has the Vario head and Blades being 900mm. Cheers Colin

Jung head
Colin, This head is designed for 2M-2.5M, at your head speed
The Vario head is hugh by comparison for the same roter disc
Imagine 2x what you have it will swamp the heli scale wise

What does sit well in this head is the metal blades, makes the model respond, to inputs, quicker

What is your intended rotor disc diameter?

Hi Peter sorry for the delay I am looking for a rotor disk of 2160.
The model flys ok with the flybar head so really require a four blade set up the same. cheers Colin

Rotor disk of 2160.
Colin,
No need to apologise, I know how busy you can be,
Remember, if you add another 2 blades, then you have to consider the extra lift,
Smaller blades, being the usual way
Lowering headspeed, will make it unstable, (from my experience)
Do you still have the "OF", head and blades?
