Sure does look like it to me at first but after watching the video of it over looks like possibly a high speed shaft failure, hard to tell.

Looks to me as if someone won't win an autorotation contest any time soon. It appeared the collective was pulled way too soon and bled off the rotor inertia. The heli just kind of fell out of the sky after that.-----

it does look like a,"vortex ring state" ...the way it fell out, your right rm3 that was a engine problem on that vid,we should find out what happened to heli soon.Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life,it's pure and it's real,it moves,it heals..TP

Sounded like something let go near the end, or the throttle went to full power.E820, Raptor G4N, X50F/E, E620, Forza 450, and some planks.

that was not a vortex ring state in that vid... just listen to the turbine...you can here it die just as the alarm goes off...

as far as the Pearl crash...I agree with Don... sounds like something let go... you can hear the tail rotor speed up...but the main rotor slowed down...

good thing it was close to shore and close to the surface...looks like they walked away with minor injuries...
showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Not settling. Short shaft failure more than likely....keep flying it 'till the last part stops moving
