Frustrating that Century just doesn't (didn't ever) seem to stock spares for their helis.

You could try calling them and see if they can find one.

Or try Ron Lund

BTW - I have one, but the only way I'm selling it is with the whole heli

Wasn't there a Chinese company that produced a rip off of the Predator? Might be a source for parts as well if it can be found.
I'm hoarding my spares as well.

This crown gear could be a good use for a 3D printer. I may have to look into that, if I get some spare time. Anyone here have the means/skills to create the STL file?

I have a predator gasser fbl that's smooth as silk. Very stable but it's not a 3D machine. Enjoyable to fly. Hoping to get the condor going just like it.There is no such thing as up, it's all out...

That's how I would describe my gasser as well. Very smooth. I have the Hanson 3D Max in it and VERY little vibes out if it. I still have mine set up with a flybar. (Sad, but that is how little I fly anymore) I have a couple of FBL heads for it and a full Condor setup as well. Maybe this summer

bevel gear
The problem with reproducing bevel gears is the math to produce the proper tooth form is not calculable, so a solid model cannot be calculated. That is why Gleason machines are necessary to produce bevel gears, and why everyone on RR who says they have a lead on a bevel gear manufacturer seems to disappear. A gear shop will charge a couple of thousand dollars for a bevel gear. Gleason machines are very expensive and complicated (read billable hours) to setup.

There are ways to make constant depth bevel gears on a mill with gear cutters, but they do not mesh well with properly formed pinions. More useful for hand operated things like egg beaters and such.

A more practical solution is to get any 70 tooth bevel gear for any helicopter, and then modify the mounting holes/mounting pattern to fit ones hub.

pretty good idea if we can find one that could be adapted. Any thoughts on the Minair crown gear, if we can find a supply of them? Other crown gears that could be used?

I had the same problem with my Kalt gasser. They had fragile crown gears, and they were built into the main gear. I finally converted to to a belt drive tail and solved the gear issue. I used mostly off the shelf RC heli parts. Was really pretty easy.
