NEWS FLASH!!! "We have just learned that a South Newhaven man apparently barricaded himself in his home this afternoon around 2:00. He is making no demands, is unarmed, has no hostages and nobody is really paying much attention."

NEWS FLASH!!! Something hit a building. No property was damaged, no one was hurt and nobody should really be paying much attention.

I miss George.

The specially trained USAF kamikaze attack pigeons got it
Kamikaze Vampire Pigeons - Got EM ! on the 40th Floor
But in the may lay it knocked over a One BIG CRANE Crane with a 550 stick on it, with the jib out : Can't testify but -

That what the others are saying - they got distracted really easy.

No Vampire Pigeon's where damaged either - a successful mission.

This I fear is just the beginning of idiots. Seen a video of a guy, in a neighborhood, who just got his first "drone", what I call a quad. Spun it up, lifted off, full throttle naturally right? It went up and up, and then away, away, away, and he couldn't get it back. Bye bye drone. Now where did this come down? Did he even care if it hit anyone? nope, no thought at all. Rule 1, flying things crash. And it might be into someone. Idiots are just idiots. You can't fix stupid, but I guess you can give it a number. And FAA number. But now, a few bad apples will give the rest of us safe flyers a bad name. That, I fear, is where this is headed.

Nice.

There will be a BBQ roast somewhere. Burnt severed with ignorance and pride as a side.

If NY has many of these it will turn the environment into a self fulfilling witch hunt.

He might have actually had a permit for filming. That aside, what a lot of people wouldn't realize is just how windy and gusty it gets among those buildings. Just selecting a random time to fly would likely end up with an out of control drone and it'd probably hit a build..., oh, never mind.

Permits aside, I don't know what all you GPS experts know, but when one flies in an "urban canyon" like Manhattan, one's GPS RX is severely limited.

GPS signals are LOS....and the urban skyscrapers block the weak GPS signals from the GPS satellite constellation.

In other words, GPS doesn't work reliably.

In order to obtain a position fix, a GPS RX must have sync with at least 3 GPS satellites.

If a fool tries to fly a GPS "drone" around Manhattan, etc....foolishly thinking that such GPS will work....well, the US is very well equipped with these fools.

Gimme a break....lol

The FAA doesn't have a "right" to levy any fine....period.

As a fool hobbyist, he's exempt....according to Sec. 336....period.

Now he's in serious trouble....for "reckless endangerment", etc....
and will suffer criminal penalties...instead.

Keeping things in legal perspective...

We'll see when the first lawyers hack it out in court....

Like Obamacare, it didn't matter what was in it. Or re written after it passed.. The court said congress has the right to tax the public..
