That Ron Lund is no longer an advertiser here?

Makes one kind of worry...

Kit inventory is nearly non existent. It's a sign of the times Dave. Folks aren't buying Helicopters like they used to.

I just order some thunder tiger parts from him recently. Everything seem ok and I recieved my order in 3 days as always. I hope he's not going anywhere. He is currently the only place I know you can get TT parts from besides eBay.

Small business cannot be loyal to models that do not sell well or have fell way behind other brands that are more popular. Its sad but its a hard core fact. Yeah there are allbof you who are TT and MA pilots but sad to say you are not enough to keep them in business.

several factors involved
It seems like the advent of small-inexpensive heli's has put a dent in people progressing to larger models; I know of a few guys that bought the cheap ones to try it out; they go out and try to fly them around without learning to hover..crash and give up on it. When I bought my first heli (ep concept) I had over 1000.00 invested so I wasn't about to give up after my first misshap. Also the models have gotten so good; they last longer now.

I do a great decending funnel!

I've been buying from Ron for over 10 years; my favorite shop with the best service out there. If he goes out of business, it won't be on account of me - I don't know how many thousands of $$ I've spent there over the years! Bummer for the hobby if another good shop disappears.

Couple of days ago I got an email from him stating that he was having some tax problems(I think that was the problem), and needed some fast cash. He said in the email that certain things were 25% off

XFC could go away and I'll never miss it. Personally, I think there is way too much emphasis on competitions and I've never cared for freestyle type stick banging. Ron Lund on the other hand, I hope they're doing ok. It was great when they took back their end of the company from Heli-Proz since Heli-Proz is no more. I buy anything I can from Ron Lund though they never have TT stuff anymore. The search engines always take me there only to read "sold out".

he needs to clear out alot of the really old stuff and just liquidate it at pennies on the dollar...anything to get funds back up....also needs to just delete items from website he will never stock again and clean up the pages...like all the century stuff...Robbe, Pantera...50% off is not gonna move that ancient stuff. consolidate the piles of bearings from all the brands into a single page and list by ID, OD, W size of the bearing so that they can sell.

Alot of work, but if he is to survive hes gotta adapt, evolve and sacrifice...

the heli craze peaked in 2008-2010...and has tapered off alot since then... this niche market may be too small to support anymore especially when thats 99% of your business.

Helis are now starting to sit in the back gathering dust or hung from the ceiling at stores like historical relics

Ron's "Tax promo sale" was an advertising effort no different than Tower Hobbies is promoting now. I've ordered from Ron for many years. He is one of the best in the hobby/business. I think it's important to consider the cost of advertising through RunRyder or any forum. I know that certain sites have become very expensive. I'm sure Ron is very prudent in his efforts to get the most out of his advertising dollar. Business today is very competitive, global market, etc, etc. Bottom line is businesses have to be versatile. The market, advertising methods, etc change daily.

Another small business the IRS and Obummer will put out of work.
Hope Ron is alright, great place to do business with.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Maybe he should start stocking "drones" to augment the helicopter stuff.

E820, Raptor G4N, X50F/E, E620, Forza 450, and some planks.

These days I think you have to. I know that Helidirect had WAY more growth in sales of quad/drone lipos than anything for helis, and I'm sure the quad/drone market was a good part of the their 2015 gross sales.

There is still money to be made out there, but those stores totally helicopter centric are going to be hurting big time in this current market. If you're not selling quads, drones, and FPV stuff too, I just don't see how you can survive. There just isn't enough profit PER SALE selling a few kits here and there. You have to survive on volume.

Its completely rediculious to think that calling on a few hundred rr members who may still be flying outdated helis, will save Rons business. Thunder Tiger has fallen off the map so to speak. Think about that... their biggest name left them to fly for another brand. What has Align done to compete with SAB, Jr, and the other top leaders in the heli world? Small business must adapt to what is hot and selling, after all its about making money when you run a business. If your mentality is old school and you dont care about profits you will loose and be buried by the other online shops who have made the changes. No matter how loyal , no matter how much you have spent or refuse to shop elsewhere because you love Ron, it will not be enough. Thats the cold truth and unfortunately that is the bus world today. Small business's can survive in the online market but they must adapt to what is in demand. Amain hobbies did a great job adapting to other ventures while keeping their helicopter and airplane as well as tc car's and trucks in business. They still have awesone customer service, helidirect has adapted, rotarywing rc has made adaptations and now has moved into other rc ventures and is growing as a young company. It's not impossible to do , you just have to move up rather than be stubborn and stick with the dinosaurs.
