kind of bummed out
I have been flying gassers for the past 11 years. about 3 years ago I scaled back to 2 helibug 700s. last year I lost a gasser due to a linkage coming off in flight. about a week ago I went to order 2 side frames and a base plate. I saw the prices have shot up.
$80 for each side frame and $60 for the base plate. then the last time I ordered from helibug it was around $16 for shipping. so I am looking at around $236 for the 3 parts. being retired I just can't do it. so when my last helibug goes in it looks like I will have to go to electric. I absolutely love the helibugs and gassers. that's why I am bummed out.

sorry to hear, it's tough on a set income while retired.

Here's something that might you feel better:
On the flip side, consider yourself lucky company is still around to offer parts .. lots of shops are closing up

I also agree that your lucky Helibug is still in business

But honestly thats the cost of doing business here in the states...

FWIW....I cant make a part like a bottom frame for a G20 for less than $75 and hope to make any money given the cost of material and return on investment expected from even the small CNC stuff I have.

Given that Helibug does all his stuff inhouse like R&D AND Manufacturing and its damn good quality and made in Plano Texas in the good ol USA, consider yourself lucky its as cheap as it is...

thanks for your thoughts. it is nice to have the parts available, but if you can't afford the parts it really doesn't matter if they are available or not. all I fly are the gassers. it is so nice to gas up (cheap fuel) and go fly.

yes .. your point is valid

But it's only part of the equation.

No parts availability with all the $$$ in the world would not be of help.

BTW
Perhaps you can post a Want To Buy Thread, that would be the best option for you sir.

Can the old frames be repaired? Some scraps of G10 or carbon fiber along with epoxy and small screws can go a long way in fixing minor to medium cracks.Tom
CAUTION - my posts are based on my experiences, yours may be different.

well it did work for Frankenstein's monster...

sometimes the nature of the fracture means a replacement... especially when all the fibers are cut along the crack...alot of the strength of G10 and CF comes from the longer strands, once they are damaged epoxy just does not work especially in higher stress areas.

besides, some repairs just look crappy... I remember welding a broken clutch back together...looked like crap...even used epoxy putty wrapped around small frames for a Belt CP... what we call 10 footers. Looks good from 10 feet away

thanks for your inputs. the frames are beyond repair. if it was
a small fracture, yes, maybe. I would not try to make a main
frame. the helibug parts are top quality.

Lets see if we can help you get the parts you need.

Let us know what you are able to afford.

I willing to start by contributing $25 payable to helibug through pp.

I know that there are a lot of kind heatred lovers of the hobby that would be willing to help.(anything will help)

I am not trying to make this look like a charity. I am just trying to help one of are fellow hobbyist to continue doing what we all enjoy.
