Neo, DX9, Safety Switch
Is it possible to set up a DX9 and a NEO to replicate the SAFETY SWITCH function that the Vcontrol radio has?

My bank switch is switch "B", my Motor switch is switch "F". I would like to use switch "H" if what I suggested is possible.

Just set a mix in the radio that replicates that function and tie it to the motor functionTeam MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

I think I have it working. The proper boxes on the computer change to what I expect when the switches are activated. Now the wait for the mail man and the new CC Edge 75 so I can setup the vbar gov.

I saw your post and was curious if you would share your mix on the DX9 for a safety switch for the NEO.

Thanks,

I used switch "F" for my motor switch and switch "H" for the safety switch. I the did a custom voice for both switches. F = Motor Off, Auto, Motor On and H = Safety Switch On, Safety Switch Off.

To get the switches to work together I did a mix: H>Ger (Gear)

Rate -100% 0%
Offset -99%

Thanks!!!

H Switch is on Gear, correct?

Were you able to get the H switch to be off with switch away and on with switch towards you?

In my setup which is similar, the H switch functions are reversed for some reason.

I need the Safety switch to work by pulling up towards me. (Like TH)

Merritt, you can reverse any switch with this procedure:

System Setup -> Digital Switch Setup -> select the switch you want to reverse, let's say H -> set pos0=-100% and pos1=100%

czorzella, thanks! Learn something new everyday...

Thanks for everyones help. I was able to set "H" up with IDLE and MOTOR ON and mixed in "A" as MOTOR OFF. MOTOR OFF kicks in when toggled regardless of the "H" position.

"H" functions more like my old "HOLD" switch and I like it. "A" is also easy to access for MOTOR OFF needs.

I physically switched "I" and "B" on the TX itself and my RESCUE is easier to use. A 3-position switch could provide all NEO functions including both "Beginner Mode" and "Rescue", but the type of switch used on VControl configured with a spring loaded side would be difficult to replicate on the DX9.

Merritt, actually its not that hard to find those switches.

If you want the original switches, they are from NKK and can be found at any online retailer like digikey and mouser.

The part numbers for replacement of original switches should be: M2013 E S4 (the short, flat 3 pos), M2013 Q4 S4 (long round) and M2012 E4 S4 (long flat 2 pos); There are equivalents with the spring loaded option.

For the record, the part number for the push button (switch I) is NKK MB2511S4G01

I have been thinking of moving the "I" switch as well. It is OK in the stock position, but I think it would be better if swapped with the "B" switch.

Rescue AND Level on the DX9?
On a normal 3-position switch in my DX9, the neo software can be setup where the rescue switch shows "off" in the middle position, "active" in the down position, and "level" in the up position.

I'm guessing "level" (hover mode?) and Beginner Mode are the same? Does anyone know?

I understand that when using the rescue function, the switch must return to "off." Hence the spring loaded or a momentary switch feature to return to center.

Has anyone setup a working "Rescue" AND "Level" switch(es) on a DX9? The Vbar software provides for both functions active...

Thanks RR!!!

"A" worked for best for me. Looks like "A" or "B" may be good choices.

Merritt,

This is what I did about the rescue function:

I swapped the "I" switch with the "A" switch.

A0=Manual
A1=Beginner

The momentary Switch "I" disrupts the action of Switch "A" by making it A0=Manual and then activates NEO's Rescue function.

This setup works perfectly fine and eliminates the need for a spring loaded switch completely.

I don't have my radio with me now, but if you want I will share the setup details later on.

NEO Setup

I don't have my computer here so please forgive me if there is any inconsistency with these procedures.

NEO Setup
Make sure that Rescue function is assigned to channel 8
and that the Rescue Mode is configured as "Rescue and Beginner" in Rescue Settings; look for this option at the swash type menu.

Spektrum Radio Setup
System Setup -> Digital Switch Setup -> select Switch "A" and make Pos0=0% and Pos1=100%

System Setup -> RX Port Assignments -> make "8 AUX3:Aux 3"
Then select Next and make "8 Aux3: A"

>>> Activate Rescue
In the Main Menu, select Mixing and create a new Mix -> Normal
-I->AX3
Rate: 0% 100%
Offset: 0%
Switch: Switch "A" and make position 0 darkened.

Missing something obvious
Hello, thanks for the great information. I think I am missing something obvious and am wondering if someone would set me straight... I have a DX9 and wish to set up beginner/manual on switch A and use my push button I, bind button to trigger rescue. My assumption for Aux3 is this
-100= rescue, 0 manual, and +100 is beginner?

So, I set-up up exactly as noted above. Switch A 0=0 and 1=100 and is linked to Aux 3. Limits on Aux 3 are -100,100. When flip the A switch to 0, the monitor shows 0 and when flipped to 1, it shows 100. I also put the mix exactly as noted above. When Switch A=0 and I push the I button, Aux 3 goes to -100 and activates rescue and when I release it, Aux 3 goes back to 0 and goes back to manual.

However, if I am in beginner or hover mode A=1 ( Aux 3 100), I also want to be able to activate rescue if I get in trouble but can't figure out how to do this. Can this be done or do I have to flip switch A back to A=0 (manual) before activating rescue with push button I (-100)?

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat with the DX9 switch assignments. With a mix...I have Normal, Level and can mix for Rescue only from the normal mode first.

In the Vcontrol setting, is the "Rescue" function even available while in "Level" or "Beginner" mode?

Perhaps Rescue must be activated from Normal only? Is that the case?

Thanks RR

beginner and rescue together
Thanks Merritt. I think you are probably right that rescue is only available from manual mode...maybe the thinking being that you can't get yourself into a rescue situation if you can't bank over a certain angle?
