Time to ask our Congressman to refuse the next FAA funding request.
Seriously, If the FAA refused to listen to the mandate of Congress to leave Model Aviators alone then we should demand that Congress slap there hand and put them back in there place by refusing them any additional funding until they decide to follow Congresses mandate. That in itself is Balance of Power. If our Congressman don't act then we don't vote for them at the next election.

I think it is time for the AMA to start posting which Congressman are working to help us and which are refusing too on the AMA Web Site so we can make informed voting choice at the next election. It works for the NRA.

How does that help... they will then pass a continuing funding resolution and the FAA goes on about it's business at the same funding level.

The 2012 re-authorization was the first FAA funding agreement passed by congress in many years. You are not going to be able to shut the FAA down or hold them hostage for funding. That is just the way it is.

The NRA is 20 times the size of the AMA. The AMA is just an insurance company. They have failed its members in recent discussions with the FAA. I don't see the AMA surviving the new FAA regulations. I can buy insurance from many vendors.

Good point and it behooves everyone to read about how limited the AMA insurance is. It doesn't cover sponsored pilots, family members and a host of other situations.Part 107.
The only ZERO flight hour certificate in the world.

the AMA will not die...but I definitely see it shrinking quite a bit by this time next year if things get worse. Its a distinct possibility the FAA could possibly get more intrusive into FunFly events especially once the money starts rolling in from fees, then even more people will likely turn their backs on the AMA.

I hope they get their butts to work...they sure as hell dont seem to have much teeth. Its not 100% their fault, but I sure as hell expect more from them rather than pull this matador Ol'e BS and allow the raging FAA bull to plow right past them straight into the face of every law abiding modeler out there that believed in them.
showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Join Me in Using the System.
Just write your Representative(s) and Senators about this. Process is that they forward your complaint to the FAA, FAA has to respond, and then your congressman has to respond to you.

Your representatives will never hear about this unless enough complaints are registered. We need more pressure from every legal avenue. Be respectful, state your case and tell them what would solve your problem.

I just got a letter back from my representative this morning.

These people are elected, they know that they have to listen to their constituents.
