I spent a week without electricity in Oklahoma in 2007. Then I did the wise thing, I moved south where they don't have ice storms.

I grew up in Florida and survived hurricane Andrew.

Prepping can start cheap. Add $20 to each weeks groceries and before you know it you have a months worth of supplies.

A gas grill cannot be beat.

In Texas one is expected to have at least a months worth of ammo.
I give up on Loctite, nothing lasts long enough to vibrate loose anymore.

Hopefully you've resolved you're power problem by now. Start checking the newspaper ads NOW people start selling them off as soon as the power comes on.
