New 1/10 scale Chinook project
Decided to start a new thread about my latest scratch build Chinook. Project started with a 1/35 plastic model. I had this model 3D laser scanned which gave me a 3D model with surfaces. From there I scaled it up to 1/10 scale. Fuselage length is 61.0 inches, height is 18.5 without the landing gear. OAL rotor tip to tip will be 114 inches. See attached pics of the CNC machining of the male plugs to produce the female molds to make the bodies. I'll be using the SAB HPS3 rotor heads, along with the Bavarian Demon 3SX. Still designing the layout of the shafting and gearing. Should fly on 12S batteries.
Probably be a few weeks getting all of the panel lines in the plug before I'm ready to make the molds. I was able to CNC machine some of the panel lines in while the plugs were laying on their sides. All of the additional panel lines will be done by hand on the bench.

Work has gotten in the way! I've been gathering all the components for the build. Modified the SAB swash plates for the two servo per head control. Molds for the body will be done by mid July. Finalizing the shafting layouts. Will post more pics soon.

Drive gears
Those are Vario gears, 70 tooth Delrin and 25 tooth steel. They will not be used in this build, as the combining shaft placement put them in the cockpit area.
