Hi Guys,
I have a friend who has a Spectrum DX18 radio and already burned two AR 12120 receptors, including one causing a crash of his model jet unfortunately. Contact the manufacturer the problem seems to be static electricity that caused the burning of the electrical circuits on the receiver. My question is , this is common to happen ? How to avoid? He flys jet airplanes and even uses a liquid in the querosene to prevent static electricity.

I know some guys are putting a antistatic liquid in there turbine jets planes, so there must be something to it. as far as static problems goes, some thing I heard a few years back.

But the problem is still occurring. I´m thinking about the carbon fiber fuselage and the chemical composition of the if can influence at the static problem. Another think is the quality of Spectrum Receiver´s....when we were using JR receivers the problem never happened!

I have had static problems in helis that forced a Rx to reboot but a static hit hard enough to completely fry a Rx? You most definitely have a big static issue.If static is an issue a large capacitor on the Rx bus should alleviate Rx problems.

I would question quite readily the contention that static electricity was responsible for damaging the receivers. I seriously doubt your repair center submitted the individual components to any facility for a detailed failure analysis to be able to reach such a conclusion. This is not something readily determined by a factory service tech.

i m think its more the load of all the servos on a rx buss. is he using one of those redundant power boxes. gives you the ability to add second battery and beefs up the power wiring to servos.

sounds like the power box is pumping to much voltage to the rx
