no, i think its more complex than that, nor have I made up my mind on the matter...

nothing happens without multiple players involvement. In this case I think alot of things happened in parallel that have led to the shut down... we seem to have over reactions from the FAA, under reactions from the AMA, then the government in the middle looking at both sides clueless as to whats really going on (but trusting the FAA is doing what it is supposed to be doing), then the traditional modelers at the bottom wondering what the hell they are being punished for when not a single AMA member was ever involved with such an incident to begin with, opposite non AMA dumba$$es that have no idea that most of this BS is even taking place and will likely never participate in fixing the problem.

we all know very well that verbal information passed from person to person will change significantly and will lead to a story that has had false info added to it and factual info deleted.... passed enough times, and we end up with two completely different animals.

Im willing to bet that the head of the FAA would likely have a different story, from what actually lead to the events resulting in the shut own....when you have this many people involved, the truth is buried too far under layers of misunderstandings and opinions to ever be found... which in this case suits the government just fine.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Post is probably very accurate on the FAA's thoughts
I know there are numerous FAA employees that are AMA members and modelers
Also the EAA has numerous AMA members that have supported RC Flying
for a very long time

I don't think they want to turn RC Modeling into a bureaucratic
mess for the average person as long as we continual to be responsible as has been our history for several decades

That being said it only takes one or two high ranking officials to make
our lives miserable

So I think most people should hope for the best and continue to
let our Government Employees from Obummer on down the list know what we think about this situation

I read the entire article and it seems to tell much of the story and the background that I have known for a while.

However, whenever a legal analysis starts talking about illegal/incorrect. that is the author's perspective. Much of this will be litigated over time. Even if the i's are not dotted, they can be by subsequent modifications.

My biggest problem with your original post was pointing much of the blame on an AMA vice president... Jay Marsh. I will hold out hope that that is not so.

Even with a blizzard, there are guys here that will try to fly. We have heated clubhouse and facilities that allow this. To shut us down during the winter is ....
