Aluminum type or grade.
Does anyone know what type or grade aluminum was used to make the GMP Cobra frames? I've used Alumiprep and alodine on these and it worked really well.
The Schluter frames must be of a different alloy because they turned dark very quickly when subjected to the Alumiprep.
The lot I got is not a lot, but I thank God a lot for the lot I got!

6061-T6 as I recall. Schluter frames were harder, more on the order of 7075-T3.Part 107.
The only ZERO flight hour certificate in the world.

Terry,
Thank you! I'm restoring my GMP Cobra and wanted to get a piece of aluminum for reproducing the original horizontal/vertical tail-fin. Painting with Klass Kote after Alodine priming.
