Can someone please give me a breakdown of the fat shark goggles line?
Cant wrap my head around how many Fat Shark goggles there are, V1-V4 all priced differently. Whats what? I'm a newb as far as FPV and goggles for sure. Just looking for a starter pair or something right above that.

I think with the Fat Shark you can go by price with brand a new pair! If you have never used FPV goggles, any set of Fat Shark (or similar) will do the job.
In my opinion the Fat Shark V2 HD Dominators are the best that Fat Shark makes at the present time.

I read that article but it doesn't include the teleporter v4s and it doesn't tell me whats the difference in versions within that model.

from what I've gathered the Dominator V2s are the ones to get and maybe the teleporter V4s? Just got a nano qx so i don't need the best pair but i also don't want the worst.

and when i look at horizon, ebay and talk to some people i get different answers as to what they come with or what ill need to complete the package and plug n play with the nqx.

Just my opinion but I would recommend you consider the new Fatshark Attitude V3 goggles. These now include the optional faceplate/fan and also includes everything you need on the 5.8g receiving end (battery, 5.8g 32ch raceband vrx module, fs rhcp spironet antenna, and an in-built 2-axis headtracker. Pretty good value imho. You can view these (and other FS accessories) at RMRC;

http://www.readymaderc.com/store/in...roducts_id=4428

Couple this with a FPV equipped quad like the Vortex 250 pro, flight batteries/charger, and an appropriate 2.4g radio system and you will be ready to race.

Also, do yourself a favour and try to research all this yourself. It also really helps if you can find some local help and advice from experienced FPV guys, even if you need to travel 100 miles to get this imho. Good luck with all this mate!

Aside; I would avoid the low-end FS goggles. I started out with the FS Teleporter v4's (with a Blade nano qx fpv rtf quad) and quickly out-grew them (incl the nano qx fpv rtf). They worked ok though. I now use FS Dom V2's (no longer avail but same great optics have been moved to the Atti v3's) and with the optional faceplate/fan, I love these for all my FPV aircraft (planes and quads). These better goggle also made my nano qx fpv a lot easier/nicer to fly using it's va1000 vtx/camera.

Cheers,
TomC

It's easy to tell you what to skip: the Dominator HD's. Do your research on a dedicated FPV forum, and you'll find them way over represented for issues with image clarity, especially on the edges, due to the way existing optical column design was paired with the stretched field of view. For some guys with eyes within a given IPD range, they're ok. For other, the are downright bad. For all, they seem to be fussy for face placement; you won't just pull them down and blast off.

The DomV2's or V3's are in the sweet spot for image quality versus price. Not cheap, but lousy video ruins the experience.

Order the faceplate for your new V2's, because without it I would not have been able to fly over these past few weeks. Lenses were fogging with 45 seconds of putting them on. Fan works perfectly.

+1 to all that Ben!

However, for dedicated fpv racing, I think most would find the 4:3 image of the older dom V2's or newer Attitude V3's (same optics as older dom v2) better than the dom v3's stretched 16:9 image (still quite flyable though imho).

Tom,

Were there two variants of the V2's? I thought the V3's were basically V2's with a faceplate and and little this and that done with the DVR.

No, dom v3 is completely diff from dom v2. Dom v3 has 16:9 image and 30 deg fov. Dom v2 has 4:3 image (what our standard vtx's transmit) and 32 deg fov. The new attitude v3 uses the Dom v2 optics. Most suppliers like RMRC are now including the faceplate/fan with ATTI v3's.

A wee bit confusing but if you view each product details on the RMRC site you should see the diffs mate.
