Parachute deployment system?
I still don't understand why large helicopters or drones don't have some kind of parachute that can eject. It may not work in every instance, but it would give some added protection especially for drones.
Its all earth!

parachutes on helis
Some of you may have noticed the rotating blades on the top of most helis----It makes hard to deploy a chute. Other crafty inventors have designed helis that blow the blades off on command.
That would work for me if I had a parachute on my back and could depart the descending bladeless heli.
If you're thinking of this idea for your model I'd spend more time on the sim.

Remember... you need sufficient height to deploy a parachute. When most guys are in trouble, it is too late.

The video is showing a stable multi before the parachute is deployed. In an actual emergency, it would take a bit for you to recognize a problem and pull the switch. In that time, it may already be worm food.

The cost of the parachute system shown exceeds the cost of many multis.

that's about it in a nutshell, you wouldn't recognize a problem until it was too late.

If you look at the second half of the deployments the flyer is actually flying the chute as he drops it first then steers away from it as the multi begins to descend to avoid catching the chute on the multi, it doesn't work that way irl. First the object begins to fall, then the pilot fidgits trying to recover, THEN he flicks the last ditch effort to save switch with whatever method available.

If the weight to chute area isn't right it'll still come down hard, You would need a lot of chute for a twenty lb rig, add maybe 1lb+ for the extras involved.

Trust me when I say I've gone down this road long ago, what goes up,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.
