Doesn't matter to me one way or the other. This is just a convergence of factors at this point.

I hear that registration is really putting a damper on sales:

normally guys would just tell the gov to go to hell and wait and see because it's the same old same old bs time and time again, BAD GUYS DON'T REGISTER IF THEY WANT TO USE SOMETHING TO HURT PEOPLE.

ya know, in a round about way the faa may be giving license to make someone an example should an accident occur and property damage or personal harm results. That's something they can't do without a regulation, ya see.

anywhoo, why is this the legal stand I sustain to protect my hobby from being lumped in with bonehead quad operators who blunder from time to time because the quads appeal to the dumbest mind set regarding anything that flys and quads are easy to learn and misleading when they can f up like anything else? this, https://www.faa.gov/uas/model_aircraft/

If its 1/2lbs to 55lbs and it is controlled via REMOTE (Transmitter) Fixed wing, heli, drone, its all the same to the FAA and if you fly it outdoors, then a register is in order, Pretty Cut and Dry to me,, I registered today, it took less than 4 minutes, Very easy to do, it last 3 years and was only 5 dollars, which I should get back on my card, because I did it before the 30 day grace period, To each there own, Merry Christmas to All!!! Sucker. Everyone who registers is just getting the FAA more leverage to keep this nonsense and go further with it. The "grace" period was a little sucker bait along with their threat of fines and jail time that is as harsh as a drug dealers charges. Congrats for falling for it and going against the hobbys cause of banding together and non conforming to a unjust and unfair regulation which will only lead to more and more of a shackle on the hobby. You seem really proud to have registered which is scariest of all.

I'll just follow the law passed by Congress of the time being.

SEC. 336. SPECIAL RULE FOR MODEL AIRCRAFT.
(a) In General- Notwithstanding any other provision of law relating to the incorporation of unmanned aircraft systems into Federal Aviation Administration plans and policies, including this subtitle, the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration may not promulgate any rule or regulation regarding a model aircraft, or an aircraft being developed as a model aircraft, if--
(1) the aircraft is flown strictly for hobby or recreational use;
(2) the aircraft is operated in accordance with a community-based set of safety guidelines and within the programming of a nationwide community-based organization;
(3) the aircraft is limited to not more than 55 pounds unless otherwise certified through a design, construction, inspection, flight test, and operational safety program administered by a community-based organization;
(4) the aircraft is operated in a manner that does not interfere with and gives way to any manned aircraft; and
(5) when flown within 5 miles of an airport, the operator of the aircraft provides the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport) with prior notice of the operation (model aircraft operators flying from a permanent location within 5 miles of an airport should establish a mutually-agreed upon operating procedure with the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport)).
(b) Statutory Construction- Nothing in this section shall be construed to limit the authority of the Administrator to pursue enforcement action against persons operating model aircraft who endanger the safety of the national airspace system.
(c) Model Aircraft Defined- In this section, the term ‘model aircraft’ means an unmanned aircraft that is--
(1) capable of sustained flight in the atmosphere;
(2) flown within visual line of sight of the person operating the aircraft; and
(3) flown for hobby or recreational purposes.

The FAA registration is a good thing I guess. Its along the same lines as us legally registered gun owners and the criminals on the streets. Legal gun owners follow safety and state laws, criminal are expected to do the same right?

..... oh wait a tick, criminals dont register their guns do they!

So there is already existing law covering probably more than 80% of us here and the FAA still made up rules for any "drone" with the intentions of levying penalties despite the law. They really don't give a fook do they.

I've heard people mention there was existing law telling the FAA hands off, but this is the first I've seen it. This law should be posted.
We made up some rules can we have your moneys now.
