My whiplash with a Hanson 2703D max/Century V2 Muffler
Here is the whiplash with the torpedo pipe. This helicopter weighs in at 13lbs with a full tank of gas and the Jewel generator system with two LEDs and the voltmagic battery monitor. It also has the rail 716mm blades as well as a flybar mainshaft (longer by 13mm) for main blade clearance and longer links to the swash to compensate for the mainshaft. Gear ratio is 6.89.

This is my lightest gasser. It could be as light as 12 lbs but I got extra equipment in it to suit my needs. Performance is pretty respectable with the Hanson 270 but with the 300 motor the thing is a "monster" as you've heard me say in the past.

Note that this engine has less reserve power than the 300, and tends to revert back to closer to 1800 rpms during loading when running the higher ID2 head speed. I also did up and down collective to show proper GV-1 setup with no wa wahs or hunting of the governor.

You can always downsize the blades to 695mm to reduce the load on the engine so it can run higher head speeds and maintain them during loading, but the autorotations will suffer and I'm quite happy with 1800 head speed which this motor can sustain.

By the way this is a muffler not a tuned pipe, there will always be even more power with a tuned pipe but the noise will be unbearable for me - remember I have to sit there and listen to it day in and day out as I fly all the time, so less power and quieter is better than more for me. The zimmerman is hands down the best for my ears, the most pleasing to listen to without that louder tone and the most power in the muffler category.
