Whiplash nose going side to side
Hi Folks.
I have a Whiplash gasser that flew fine until its first crash. I did the usual rebuild, all gears replaced that needed it, all shafts replaced, made sure everything was true.
Now I get a slow consistent wag of the nose from side to side. I checked servos and they are all good. Could this be a symptom of they infamous OWB?
Thanks!
Scott
When possible shoot first. When that isn't possible shoot fast.

Check the tail , if you're nose is wagging the tail is causing it too...check tail gears , tail output shaft maybe bent , check blades grips , blade grip bearings , links from slide to grips , torque tube and bearings....

The OWB won't cause a side-to-side wag...that has more to do with the motor being rich...aka a slow tail wag while breaking a new motor. If the tail wag is fast, then I would be looking into a bent tail hub, but that would be an "up/down" shake, and it would cause the fuel tank to foam up, as the tail spins roughly 5 times faster than the main blades.

If the OWB was giving you problems, you would hear the motor fluctuating or doing what is called the "wah-wah's". Normally that is not slow and constant. It goes away under a collective load. The other problem the OWB can give you is it can slip. It will loose its grip on the mainshaft and the motor will pickup rpm.
