Looked to me like that guy refused to cooperate with the cops.

Besides, we don't even know why he was in that position.

That's the problem with these kinds of videos. You don't get the full story. All you see is what you think might be cops being to rough. Maybe they had darned good reason to be rough and take no chances with that guy. That's what cops are supposed to do.

Conviction of cops via YouTube videos is not to smart in my mind.

That's a good question.

Only forensics can answer that question.

See what I mean about YouTube videos that do not and in most cases cannot tell the whole story.

The problem is, from the cop's perspective, they hear that all the time. "I'm not resisting," from people who are actively resisting. All they know is this guy is squirming, a cop has been shot, and he continues to squirm. Will there be a second shot? Will the cop who is shot recover? Will one of them be killed and not get to go home? These HAVE to be going through their minds and there's a guy resisting who may fire a second, deadlier shot.

Sorry. Without clearly seeing who fired that shot, I'd have to assume it came from the suspect myself. And I'm sitting here on a nice warm couch. In the situation, I'd have done the same. And I have instant replay. They do not.

What torques me is many who are ready to hang this cop would probably have fired. That's the part that ticks me off the most. People unwilling to suspend their judgment and put themselves in someone else's shoes.

Yes, I also tried putting myself in the suspects shoes. But then, WHO SHOT THE COP?
Only forensics can answer that question.
OK Everyone, Pop quiz.

Your buddy just got shot and you have no idea if a second shot is coming. Do you:

A. Wait for forensics to make a choice. Or
B. Make a call.

You only have seconds to respond. And you might die based on this choice. Ready?

GO! 3..2...1.

OK. What did you choose? How many here are choosing B? If you chose A from a comfortable couch I challenge you to consider if that's your final answer.

I just see no way to hang these cops for this one.

Then you have the lead-in, what happened leading up to this, which is always strangely absent from these cop witch-hunt videos. We only show up after the cops got him to the ground and were attempting to disarm him. Just what was he doing to get law enforcement attention. Just how many chances did this guy get? These cops likely put themselves in harm's way to even get the situation THAT far. And this is the thanks they get. From their perspective, they are damned if they exercise restraint. They can exercise restraint, putting themselves in danger in doing so, and still have people seeing this video wanting to hang them.

You are creating a situation where even restraint is a non-option for the cops every time you decide they can do no right.

Looks like the cop on the right accidentally shot the other cop.... Then the cop on the right shot the guy on the ground once maybe accidentally?, then the other cop shot him three times probley thinking the guy on the ground shot him and had a gun...

If the guy on the ground would let the cops arrest him he would still be alive but noooo let's fight with the cops,

So let me give you something to think about clown. If those cops are as Wicked as you say they will be hunting you down and dotting your eyes.
I've noticed over and over that you like posting that type of stuff. While there are bad cop there are also good cops, The very same good cops you are maligning with your multiple negative posts. Good luck staying alive

I doubt WC is stupid enough to fight with the cops.

But, it's very clear he is afraid of them and does not trust them. Otherwise, he would not constantly be making threads like this and convicting cops via YouTube.

WC is right to fear them. The thing is, everyone reading this thread should fear them too. I'm not joking. With the training and indoctrination cops receive today, any cop you meet, anywhere, anytime is an imminent threat to your life. Think long and hard before calling them to your home. Barking dogs are shot, immediately, as a matter of policy. NO questions asked. People threatening suicide are assisted in their endeavor if they don't follow their commands. Get indignant should they intrude on you while you're going about your lawful business, you'll be lucky just to get a beat down and arrested for "resisting". Down to brass tacks, a cop can accost you on the street, pull his pistol and shoot you dead, then get off scott-free, just by saying "The subject acted nervous, refused to answer questions and reached into his coat. I feared for my life...". Do most police behave this way? No. But like that box of chocolates, you never know which one you're going to get. On any given day, a cop is the most dangerous person you will meet.

By the way, in case you think the above indicates that I hate cops, well no... My wife is a retired sheriff's deputy from San Bernadino County, CA and my "little" brother is Assistant Chief of Police (sometimes acting chief) on a reservation in southern Arizona. Most of my comment above is word for word what my brother said to me!

As for the video above, it looked to me like a couple angry cops got some "street justice" on a known bad guy. Good shoot?? Walkin' a thin line there, but they'll likely skate.

Are we all watching the same video? Are you saying that Cop 2 shoots Cop 1 intentionally at 1:16, to make it look like the criminal shot so that they could have an excuse to kill him?

Because that is what it would take for a murder 1 or 2 charge.

One of two things happened: - either the suspect shot Cop 1, in which case we're done here.

Or Cop 2 somehow had an AD that shot Cop 1 and they assumed there was a gun on the suspect and acted in what they thought was self defense. A GIGANTIC misunderstanding, but guilty of no more than manslaughter. You cannot negligent your way into a murder 1/2 charge. That's not the definition.

Either way, how do you hang these guys on this one? It's either justifiable homicide or negligent manslaughter at most. But Murder 1? Come on, folks. Doesn't anyone know the law?

Manslaughter: The unjustifiable, inexcusable, and intentional killing of a human being without deliberation, premeditation, and malice. The unlawful killing of a human being without any deliberation, which may be involuntary, in the commission of a lawful act without due caution and circumspection.

Murder 1: unlawful killing that is both willful and premeditated, meaning that it was committed after planning or "lying in wait" for the victim.

Still see a Murder 1 charge for a killing in performance of duty when things get out of control? Negligent homicide/manslaughter at the most, and anyone knowing the law will see that.

As for only resisting because he's being choked, etc. Watch around the :50 mark. Dudes trying to get away FFS and no force is on him.

It's possible that the suspect grabbed the gun or the cops hand in the fight and the gun went off and shot the cop...
The cop with the gun didn't say anything maybe that's why he shot the suspect once because the suspect was going for the cops gun.

The thing that bothers me most is Cop #1 pulling his pistol and delivering 4(!) contact shots into a handcuffed man's back. Bad optics even if it can't be charged as murder. We're talking about LAPD here. They already have a dubious reputation for brutality and questionable killings.

That said, the dead man did choose to engage in physical combat with the cops... That's like running from a police dog... Stupid. Stupid sometimes equals dead.

Dennis, You are correct, I apologize. I saw the cuff go on the left hand, but missed the flailing right, even in slow motion!
It doesn't change my opinion on the optics of the contact shots, but the dude was really asking for it...

Please note, I'm not saying the contact shots were wrong. It just really looks bad, especially in a community that already hates and fears cops.

My brother and I argue about this kind of thing all the time, and I'm on his side. Thank God he's never had to kill anyone (at least not yet). I know it would tear him up.

it's not the cops you have to worry about, it's the lawyers, they are like sleeping with hookers (not that I ever slept with a hooker !!), lawyers just don't care yet they get their money even if you are not happy with the end resultJim
