opti power ultra guard storage mode
I purchased a couple of ultra guards last month from experience rc. How do you go about putting them in storage mode.

This adapter allows you to charge store and balance the battery for the guard. I puffed a battery from leaving it plugged in. I now charge it prior to use and balance or store after use. The built in charger in the opti guard does not balance so you will see a big split in cells voltage.
I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

How about knowing your sheeyat before telling someone to RTFM?

The storage charge feature has been removed in later UG430 units. They deemed it not necessary because it still slowly discharges and putting it in storage mode just puts you all that closer to over discharging the lipo and ruining it. Don't believe me? Don't care. Email Andrew at Optipower and ask him yourself.

That Scorpion BUG cable fits the battery for the Optipower Ultraguard?

OK HeimD. How long do you think it would take the opti guard to reach close to storage charge if you left it sitting on the heli. I am trying to determine how long I can let my helis sit before the opti guard gets too low a charge.

The scorpion cable allows charging of any 2S lipo through the balance lead. The opti gaurd pack does not have a deans or main power cable making this plug needed. It has also extended the life of my DX9 lipo. I don't even unplug just charge it up. I bought it for a bug then gave away the bug when the opti gaurd came out. Prior to flight, I charge up the opti gaurd to any where between 4.0-4.15V per cell and know it will work if needed. End of day, store at 3.8-3.9V. I would recommend unplugging the optigaurd every time you put your Heli away. The problem with my technique is the possibility of flying with out the gaurd. I check for the lights prior to flight. If you fly the same Heli 2-3 times a week this would be not be needed but if your are storing for longer than that this pack will last longer this way.I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

The picture shows a parallel balance board and deans charge lead. Both of these are connected to my charger. Power is coming though the deans charge lead to the battery though the Scorpion cable. The balancing is being done with the board. This $4 cable will allow you to balance the optic guard with your charger. You said you have a few of them so am still recommending that you buy one so that you can charge and balance the lipo with your charger. The optigaurd main purpose will be to safe your heli when the BEC fails. The internal charging is ok but not great IMO. You can shoot me a PM and I will give you a call to talk about it if you like.I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

I would recommend unplugging the optigaurd every time you put your Heli away.
I recommend you don't do this unless you want to wear out the connector on the board and create a sketchy connection in the future.

Don't know as I've never tried that experiment myself. I am ordering this charge cable from A Main, though.

Have you worn out a balance connector and needed to replace it? I would prefer to know what the pack is doing and have it last longer than worry about the plug wearing out. Prior to my un pluging the pack. I did not fly a Heli for a little over a month and the pack was puffed. I then checked my other optigaurd pack for balance and one cell was 3.3V and the other 4V. As I mentioned before. If you fly the Heli every 3 days or so leave it plugged in and check for balance once a month. IMO, unplugging is better if you only fly a couple times a month.

I bought a 2-pack of 2S LiPo balancer extension cables and a Deans plug and made my own.

But, I don't know why the comment
I recommend you don't do this unless you want to wear out the connector on the board and create a sketchy connection in the future.
It is a standard JST-XH balancer connector - the same as used on almost every LiPo pack I've ever used (2S up to 6S).

And, I connect the balancer for every charge.
