Not yet anyway. give them time and room to really screw you witch you are, and they will. you will be singing a different tune then, how many here now do you think will care when it ultimately does bother you? The wedge is being driven deep between those who care and those who do not.

To date, the FAA has used its discretion18 to not bring enforcement action against model-aircraft operations that comply with AC 91-57. However, the use of discretion to permit continuing violation of FAA statutes and regulations is not a viable long-term solution for incorporating UAS operations into the NAS
18 As used in this context, “discretion” refers to the FAA’s power to decide whether to commence an enforcement action.

Yeah, but they can read obnoxious comments like yours. Next time they have a chance to throw the book down in Panama City, they probably will.

None of us wants air strikes, none of us wants anyone to loose a life over the hobby. We may not like everything, but we can act like adults and solve our differences in a legal manner.

The FAA has all the power when it comes to safety, remember that.

If anyone asks if your "drone" is registered, just ask them if they mean the ones they talk about on TV or the internet. If they say yes, then explain this is not a drone, this is a helicopter. If they doubt you, then ask to see a picture of a drone. I'm pretty sure if they google "drone" they won't get picture of Goblin or an Align. See, you must use the ignorant media to your advantage."I'm a dirt torpedo!"

My line of thought is, I'm not going to play games with an officer of the law. They'll likely be very undereducated about the whole deal, putting me at an even greater disadvantage.

Waste their time, make them feel stupid and you can bet it won't go well for you.

I'm still not registered...still haven't decided. Regardless, I will absolutely not get into a word-play game with someone that has the power to ruin my day.

Page 5 https://www.faa.gov/uas/media/model...t_spec_rule.pdf

Fixed wing, rotor wing, and MR's are all "sUAS" and covered by the FAA requirement.

Blimps are an interesting subject to me since the rule says anything greater than .55# take off weight. so a large lighter than air R/C would not (technically) be covered by this.

As a previous poster noted, I'm not willing to get into a technical debate with a local LEO over my use of R/C. I have an FAA registration number (begrudgingly signed up for that) and will apply this number to all my battery packs. This will fulfill the requirement on all my RC aircraft (no tools to access the FAA registration number)
In Section 336, Congress confirmed the FAA’s long-standing
position that model aircraft are aircraft. Under the terms of the Act, a model aircraft is
defined as “an unmanned aircraft” that is “(1) capable of sustained flight in the
atmosphere; (2) flown within visual line of sight of the person operating the aircraft; and
(3) flown for hobby or recreational purposes.” P.L. 112-95, section 336(c). Congress’
intention to define model aircraft as aircraft is further established by section 331(8) of the
Act, which defines an unmanned aircraft as “an aircraft that is operated without the
possibility of direct human intervention from within or on the aircraft.” Congress’
6
definition of model aircraft is consistent with the FAA’s existing definition of aircraft as
“any contrivance invented, used, or designed to navigate, or fly in, the air.” 49 U.S.C.
40102; see also 14 C.F.R. 1.1. Although model aircraft may take many forms, at a base
level model aircraft are clearly “invented, used, or designed” to fly in the air. Id.

jschenck,

Like your placement location. Hadn't thought of that. I like you will begrudgingly sign up at some point prior to my first flight (god I cant believe I need to register to hover my heli in my yard... disgusting)

Thinking about making some tags with numbers maybe to sell. Something simple like a keyring that clips to my helicopter (in flight)

I really do not like that the current aircraft registration is fully searchable. (we are being told this list wont be and why,,,, I get that but I do not trust it)
I did a search on last name smith in the aircraft registration database, TOO easy to find, and got a long list of names and address's.

Will have to figure some place to put it on the Nitro.

Sort of concerned on the impact this will have on our Funfly this year.

Yes Tmoore,
That database is pretty old and outdated. I have been assured by our club president that we have been flying at our site for 25 years with no incidents and no reason to stop now. He does not think we have an issue. (he is a full scale pilot and has checked with the local airport)

Hope so !

As far as not registering with the FAA because of not wanting the government to have your credit card on file...well...if you ever paid for AMA membership with a CC, Im sure they will be happy to hand over the "info" if "requested" by the government/FAA.

Yup, I think its time to go off the reservation and begin some sort of Multi-rotor Militia...should be able to find some decent flying areas in the mountains and live off the land.

banks and government are like sister and brother, they can look any time to see your assets or take them at will
Don't worry about your info being hacked, Your government already has all they need.
if you have a bank account or a loan they have access to all the info they will ever need.

Our countries may be different but they are both owned by the same banks
