Today my Christmas came early, a Roban 800 222 this will be my 3rd scale ship, Like to say thank you too Teamapache, getting to me so fast. And the way I build every part will come apart and checked. And I have read a bunch on this ship from everything to ball links, to the linkage, that I will fix bellcranks on the outside for better servo geometry, and the preload on main shaft, button head screws will be replaced. This thing is BIG, wife might have to give up kitchen table.

I run an Align 450Kv motor in my Roban Cobra (swinging 2x 800mm Spin scale blades) which gives me a head speed of 1200 (using the Castle governor at 92%) and the Cobra flies really nicely at that head speed.

If you go with the recommended 530Kv motor, your head speed will be around 1400 (assuming 92% throttle output).

I think you will find that anything in the 1100-1400 head speed range will provide for good flying characteristics.

Congrats on ur wonderful present. If you are running a 12s. 530Kvx44.4V x.90(motor eff)/13.8=100% HS. HSx95% (govern esc%). Learn this formula from Colin. Your headspeed would be around 1381governed at 90% with your Cc120 ESc (considering the motor eff@ 90%). At 95%= 1458. 85%=1305. With my roban 700 Ec655, Im running a KDE 455kv and im governed at 1250 (92%) with my CC 120HV with 12S...running nice and cool.

yes running 12s and 4035-530kv 1300- 1400 head speed, have all retracts work perfect, takes time to get them right. I redid the linkage to the head. linkage is a lot better and using a Align 700 swash plate cut down a align 450 main shaft for the control rod and bell cranks on the outside, works so smooth. Thinking of running separate pack for rx. will need nose weight anyway

I've built four Roban kits and on every one I do the linkage conversion. Peace of mind.

Basically you are moving the roll bellcranks from inside the bearing column to the outside for a straighter shot from the servo for a bit better geometry of movement. I plan to also extend the bellcranks so the leverage is better on the servo. the longer arm should be on the servo side not the swash side. wish I could do it for the elevator bellcrank too.
here it is on my Astar's mechanics. I also raised the height of the rotor head by adding a longer main shaft

Try a test hover on Sunday of weather holds up. Running 2 glacier 2100 life for RX and mks servos have 2 new 5300 batteries gov set to 1300, 1375 , 1400 and see how that does, had to balance mains they were off cg of each blade. Metal servo horns on everything. FBL unit is brain, and Bluetooth. Scorpion 530, cc 120 HV. Running rx at 6.6 volts Roban said not to run retracts at 6.6 they said 6 volt max so made bec to drop voltage just to the retracts. Replaced all button head screws in the frame. So I think it ready for test hover.

Wow! sounds like the space shuttle getting ready to launch
hope the weather is good man.
Curious, why two packs for the receiver? the extra amps?
also not clear what you said about the fbl unit.
Are the life batteries rated at 6.6 volts?
Hope to see pics

Yes the glacier life are only 6.6 volt there very thin and about 4 inch's long fit perfect next to the frame. There only 2100mh that's why I put 2. The fbl unit is the same as an ikon, Problem is now wow this this is tail heavy, need to fix that before test hover. Yes does feel like the shuttle, trying not to make a big mistake. Like nasa check everything 3 times. Knees are all ready knocking.

I have 12 oz lead in the nose, but no interior, wanted to all the running gear set up first. Yes thank god my wife didn't show me in the video knees were shaking so bad. All black blades hard to see tracking. Not to bad for its first hop. Now it will only get better, and first time I flew ccw rotation. Now for all the fun stuff to do.
