It seems I won another prize at Top Gun!!

A little late, I got an e-mail saying I had won a V control transmitter and did I want it?

It might just go well with my Goblins on V-bars and Neos. Hopefully it will arrive quicker than the information did. I'll keep you all updated.

Well it seems like David Sweatt likes my Top Gun prize so much he has decided to keep it.

I'll call Mikado and thank them anyway, I'm sure they didn't know who they were dealing with.

Hey look! Just like old times! the gangs all here! Yeah Pete once we got word from the judges that the "fix" was in.. once again.. (all show and a NO FLY! weak score) compared to the other real pilots efforts, that once again didn't BUY their own large "latte" sized silver CUP for their own mantleplace.. The real contest coordinators pulled the funds and prizes and went "shopping"! Love the radio! Its at the field as we speak getting tested! See you in Tahiti Petey!

I'm taping out!!!
This has gotten a little too serious for my taste and I clearly don't know what is going on. So I will graciously back away from this conversation.

It turns out that david sweatt (aka vertolfan) is on another of his drunken rampages. Mikado have never heard of him and definitely did not donate anything to Top Gun or sell him anything.

Now the nasty PM's have started flying again just like after the last Top Gun, so I suggest you close this thread Darrell and I will put sweaty on my ignore list and end it now.

I Agree With Jim
It is a damm shame somone thinks that they need to throw a blanket over what I would consider a very well run event, with some over the top machines..
It came down to Peter and Mark in the expert class and there was no room for error from either..with two outstanding machines..
Great event, and we had a great time.. with no problems .., (except for my Tree Cobra!!!)

You just had to go there, didn't you... LOL... You needed a tree cobra to go with Jim's Lake Cobra, so I just helped you out a little bit...
On the other topic: I didn't see any unfair judging the day I was there. Darrell is a stand up guy and he gives a lot of his time to these events and the hobby in general.

I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in the characterization of the hard work done by Darrell and the judges at Top Gun

It's this kind of baseless and unfounded diatribe drivel that makes the few people willing to undertake the (occasionally) thankless job of running such an event say "screw it"

As someone that has been to and covered a LOT of events, I would say it was well run and fair and any comments made by a peanut gallery that wasn't there should be taken with the largest grain of salt.

Was it perfect? Of course not, first time at that field, and first time in years, but will the lessons learned make it better next year? I'm certain of it. That is unless a couple of keyboard commandos run off the one person willing to do the work to make it happen.

Ridiculous!
Just saw this posts after not being on for a few weeks. This is just crazy talk. Anyone who knows or has met these guys, and I mean the whole group including pilots (flying or not) and judges would not even think to make such a false statement. Easy to be an armchair quarterback. This was a first rate contest run by first rate people and participants. End of story!
