Ok I have a question
Yesterday our local town had their Christmas parade and there was a drone flying around over everyone and up and down the streets everyone was asking me after the parade if it was me and I said no I won't take the risk of flying over crowds like that
I'm thinking it was the local police department I heard they had one now
So the question is how can they do that and get by with it but as soon as one of us would do it they would make us land it
I just about bet the pilot is not experienced or do they have a clue on the rules

Why would you assume it was the local PD?
You are making a lot of assumptions in that post.

My guess it was some moron that got a new toy.

Also, why were you the one answering the question "Was that YOU?"

LOL

Do you have a history of this sort of misbehavior?

Also, Moses has been a professional aerial photographer hired by government groups in the past, so Moses has a professional reputation.

Moses has made the fewest assumptions in this thread.

As a professional with integrity and good judgement, Moses is asking how a local police dept can justify this risk.

Moses is a good role model in this arena.

Thank you Tyler yes there is alot of responsibility that goes along with flying one just to get that one picture
Always give yourself away out a place to drop it in case something happens and it's not if it happens it's when it happens where do you put it if you loose a motor and your flying over a crowd ?

And, you assume the the local PD is not as concerned about the proper safety and training with new hardware as you are?

So, they grabbed the new toy and went to the Christmas Parade to check out the new hardware?

Have they displayed irresponsible practices in the past?

Humm.

Help me understand: how exactly would the local PD be able to track down responsible party flying that drone to ask them to land it (assuming it wasn't them)?

Maybe there is a bias against the local PD?
