It is my understanding that Red is for permanent bonding but needs heat to solidify because it has small pieces of glass in it. That is why you never use it on Aluminum it will eventually chaff the threads and that fine silver powder is ground aluminum. I use only Blue.

Man I've always used blue. I do check it from time to time. If it's coming loose, I'd look to see if you are having an issue with either the flat area on the shaft or the set screw.

Sometimes, a set screw can me machined such that it doesn't have good contact area. I've used a dremel to good effect.

And sometimes, the flat area on the shaft is so knackered that the set screw just digs its way out. This was an issue for me with my Hirobo starter shafts. If the flat area is knackered, a new shaft is the only fix.
