now guys I have been to the ER before for my share of injuries, I figure in my life time I have been to the ER a good 13 times at least, like for that 20 inch wood prop that just decided to jump up and get in the way of my finger tip LOL, that 13 times includes a good 8 or 10 times for the Lung Infection I had.. but in all those times I never have been to the ER when there was screaming, crying and yells for help..
I hurt my knee, they found there is some blood under the muscle and it will be OK but I may have to have it removed, no need for a room so I was on a bed in the hall, but this old guy there in his 80 was in the room next to me and he was screaming and yelling for help,, then there was a baby that cried a bit but not much,,, but what really got to me was the 2 little girls about 3y.o., I saw them in the waiting room, cute little things, but man oh man in the ER they must have been in so much pain, one little girl just cried at the top of her lungs nonstop for a good 20 minutes, then the other little girl, she was screaming louder nonstop at the top of her lungs at the same time for a good 25 minutes, poor little things, I really felt for them, it got to me because in about 5 months my own daughter is going to give me my first grand child..

I tell you I had tears in my eyes for those 2 little girls crying, then the nurse told me it gets worse at times, I don't know how people can work there and go home and not think about those people and their pain, but thank God we have these people !!

AMEN! to that!

I dont mind blood, broken bones, you name it. Adults in pain is one thing, KIDS who have bad injuries or illnesses I cant handle.

Seen a lot a crazy crap while working as an ER nurse, kids were the only thing that bugged/scared me the most.
It was Very hard to stay professional when your talking to either abusive or very stupid parents who hurt their kids!

One thing in the ER about the kids crying, if they are crying, that is considered a good sign, they are moving air and alert enough to feel the pain, it's when they AREN'T crying we get really worried!!

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!
