Can anyone tell me how I can find his list and how would I go to the years where he was helping me most. I am guessing that year would be around 2010. Thankyou.

A reminder. These are not email messages. They are posts on an internet forum. Everyone can see them and reply as well.

Also, if you go to the top of any page, click the "PM" button. It will open a page showing private messages you received, and private messages you have sent. After 5 or 6 years of not a lot of activity, I'm not sure what will still be there for you.

Nothing sinister going on here, just someone looking for old posts...

Member Jplot sent me this PM a day or so ago:
Hi dkshema

You guessed correctly as I was looking for you.

You guided me five or six years ago in getting my Align 500 into the air. I thank you once again for that help.

My wife and I are now in .........., Ohio and I brought that beat up old bird with me. I am now facing the job of getting it prepared properly and hope to fly next summer??????

I remember a lot but have forgot a lot and at the age of eighty-six am not very good at multi tasking. But I am trying and enjoying it.

I think I noticed at Run Ryder that you have many of your old posts still in place. If I am right on that then I might be able to find and retrieve the many posts that you sent me for they are filled with gems of information that I sure could use.
I edited out where in Ohio, and highlighted what I believe to be the most important part of his post in blue.

This is why I help here as much as I can. It is PM's like this that make my day.

Back to our regularly scheduled help me thread....

Mr. JPLOT -- I've done just a little bit of digging, I think the posts you're trying to locate go back just a little bit further, to around 2009, not 2010.

As I recall, you have a Trex 500, it has a flybar, you have a Spektrum DX6i transmitter, and a Futaba GY401 tail rotor gyro.

Since the helicopter is a 120 degree, CCPM swashplate type heli, I dug this thread out of the RR archives:

https://rc.runryder.com/p4325158/

It is long, it is detailed, and best of all, after all these years, it still works!

It will walk you through a Flybarred heli with 120 Degree CCPM mechanical set-up, servo set-up, and overall helicopter set-up.

Next, to take care of the tail rotor stuff, this post ought to walk you through the basics of making the GY401 gyro work well for you:

https://rc.runryder.com/p2547232/

These two old timey posts ought to get your Trex 500 in fine form, and in a flyable state.

-----

Keep in mind that when working with your electric helicopter and having the battery plugged in, you should either 1) Unplug two of the three wires going from the ESC to the Motor, or 2) loosen up the motor mounting bolts and slide the motor and pinion AWAY from the main gear so the two are NOT engaged. Tighten the motor mount bolts. You can put things back after all the setup is complete, and you won't accidentally chop yourself to bits should the ESC become armed and allow the motor to spin up.

-----

Oh, one more thing. To make certain your tail rotor and gyro work in the correct direction:

Right rudder stick on the transmitter SHOULD make the tail rotor servo PULL the tail rotor pushrod FORWARD, towards the nose of the heli. If it goes the other direction, go to your Transmitter servo direction setting menu, and reverse the rudder channel. Now right stick will make the tail rotor servo PULL the tail rotor pushrod forward.

Next, pick the helicopter up, and while watching the tail rotor servo arm, turn the nose of the heli to the LEFT. The servo MUST pull the tail rotor pushrod forward, toward the nose of the heli. If it goes the other way, locate the NOR/REV switch on top of your GY401 gyro, and move the switch to the opposite direction.

Now both the rudder stick AND the gyro will make the tail move in the proper direction.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance in your endeavors to get your 500 back in the air.
