I have been looking for a battery charger for a long time now. I can't make up my mind. I have looked at the cheap ones and the really expensive ones. I can't seem to get happy with a choice. I don't really have a lot of info on what's good or bad. So if you guys can help me out with the right way to go I would appreciate it. I charge mostly 3s 2250 and 6s 5000 packs. Some in between and smaller. Let me know. Thanks guys.

I am a fan of Icharger 3010b (2) ,306 (1), I have 3. I picked them used between $100-$120.They have served me well for a couple seasons now without a hicup. Just make sure you have a good ps to push them to their potential.

What power supplies would you recommend? In some cases the PS is the most expensive!!!

well if you go that way. you have around 200 in to chager and power. so why not just get 4 port hitec. ac/dc that way all on one.and just you know I love it, you would not go wrong

Very happy with my Icharger 308 duo. Two charging channels 8s LiPo and 30A each channel.
My PS is only 24V-42A so that is my limiting factor. Sometimes I charge 6-6s 3300s on one channel and 4-7s 5000s on the other. Charge rate is 1C but all the packs are charged by the time I'm all packed and ready to go.

With the duo, I can charge my Tx while I charge my heli packs, charge my goggles while charging my 250 quad racer packs. If I get a cheap 62A 24V server PS just for home, I'll be able to charge all my big packs in 30 minutes from storage.

I bought new chargers a while back, and got the iCharger 306's. I put many chargers in a spreadsheet, computed many things, and it after a bunch of analysis i realized pennies per watt was the only thing that mattered to me because I parallel charge.
The issue with the 4 port hitec is it's only a 200 watt charger. The icharger is 1000 watts, so it's like having 5 of the Hitec's all going at once, for $159 instead of $200. Actually it's like 3.75 of the hitec's, not 5 of them, since it only goes to 30 amps so with a 6S pack it's a shade over 750 watts output. I have lots of chargers, being all electric since 2001, and chargers change and improve over time, so I buy new ones every few years. I looked again this year and decided nothing had really changed, so I'm sticking with the 306's. I was using two 200 watt chargers before I got these (so equivalent of two of the hitec's mentioned). I was always charging for hours the night before I was going to fly. Usually a dozen or more 6S/5000's then some 4S/4000's for planks, maybe a few little 2100 packs. For the last few years with the 306's and parallel boards, i can have everything charged, or at least 50~60% of it, in less than an hour with the two 306's and parallel boards. Sometimes I don't even charge at home. I can setup chargers at the field, and plug a pack or two in to fly first thing on one charger, and a bunch into the other charger. By the time the truck is unloaded and a plane is put together, a couple packs are ready. The other charger has several packs ready after i've flown that first one, and there's essentially as much charging power as I'm flying with so there's never a wait for chargers.

As mentioned above, you can find power supplies on here all the time at very reasonable prices.

Thats the differance. 1000 watts of Parallel charging. Not to mention all the other stuff the Icharger does. Motor breakin foam cutting ir checking....Buy the best equipment you can afford. Plan for what you going to be flying in the future.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, being new to electric and have decided an iCharger 308DUO is the best for me and the packs I'll be charging. I'm also going to reach out to DSW for a PS when I'm ready to make a purchase.
