I'm sure there are still plenty of flybarred helis out there, how about a separate section for them?

There will be plenty of people looking for setup advice and I think a separate section would stop all the 'JUST GO FLYBARLESS' replies?

I helped a friend setup an older Trex 500 (GF frame, belt drive) and it was a joy to fly! I miss that predictable natural feel of a flybarred head!

60% of the time, it works every time!

I think it's a good idea even though it would probably have few visitors. Parts for older flybar models can be tough to source or hard to figure out which revision parts you may need to replace an existing part. A central place to talk about that would be a good thing, I think. I recently acquired a flybar model and had to do a lot of digging and googling to finally get the right parts.

It'll probably have more "what's a flybar" posts than anything.

But I still think a FB section would have merit. I mean, we have a CNC area and I'm sure more ppl fly FB than run lathes and mills. So why not?

RT did what I was thinking.

Nothing wrong with the FB (flybar, not facebook).

E820, Raptor G4N, X50F/E, E620, Forza 450, and some planks.

FB has a much better feel. Like rack an pinion vs power steering.
Just no contest. Have both flown many of each, and FB wins hands down.

I personally miss the art of setting a flybarred heli up doing little mods to the head to get that extra bit of performance out of it so it flew better/differently to everyone else's. Nowadays you just plug them into a computer or press a few buttons and they're set up with no sense of 'I did that' when you fly them!

I'm indifferent. But it does seem that the electrics and flybarless took a lot of the soul out of the hobby. It used to be so complex and interesting. Now it's just plug and play.

That said, I appreciate that my Logo 600 just works. Always. So I have both. I rely on the E/FBL but my heart belongs to the N/FB.

However, I really hope manufacturers continue to at least consider us FB guys. If things keep progressing as they are, there will come a time when FB won't exist. They'll be like mechanical tail gyros...one guy in a hundred will have them. Unless FB makes a resurgence, which many have predicted, and yet it never comes.

The evolution is for the FBL controller in a helicopter to function just like a multirotor - just sit there until you move a stick. The art of flying is dead.

But there is an antique section, scale section and a turbine section so why not a flybar section. When the last post is one year old, Mark could delete the section.

I like it.
So much hoopla about fbl. I want that system, actually have one. But I'm an ole nitro fb fruit myself. The "pros" were awesome then, as now. It's prederence IMO.

There is no such thing as up, it's all out...

Thanks Mark - this makes sense to me. I enjoyed flying my Flybar'd 2008 Trex-700n this summer, after setting it up from scratch. Was fun to setup and have fly well. Somehow I think it's a bit easier to be sloppy with my continued attempts at getting the piro-flip. Didn't get as much stick time as I'd like this summer but a 3-4 gallons through my black headed FB 700n was good.

In this hobby you pick and choice what makes you happy. I stayed with a flybar but discontinued using rate mode and went to HH. Our industry is driven by profit and the more people involved the more companies make.

I would say money is not the number one motivator. There has to be a love for this hobby. If profit was the big motivator they would make money doing something more lucrative then dealing with just the thousands of people in this hobby.

Kevin, models are considered toys. The newest toy in this hobby is the quad copter and they are making millions.
