Lets see your videos of the boring flights around a field. Not a whole lot you can do with them. Oh wait you all don't fly FPV or have a gimbal mounted video camera to catch some outstanding video, its all from the ground looking up at the bird flying... Like to see you take a 8 motor MR and stick it in manual and fly...

Exact same thing goes for you, too. As for your earlier post about the large scale birds, at least they have style and look bad ass. Still waiting to see a quad looking even a fraction as nice or with any aesthetics at all, really.

Flying FPV is child's play. We FPV race in my backyard and around the farm.....its just not a big deal. I've flown several S800's in manual mode and honestly that's trivial as well. There is no FPV scenario that equals flying Models in a line of sight mode, IMHO.

Let's see him with a nitro or gasser powered multi rotar. I won't even mention a turbine.

While you can get some great photos and videos with a multi rotar, there is no real challenge to them.

It's fun to play with the tech, it's fun to see the machines perform and in a lot of cases you can do some very meaningful work with them. Having LOS as well as FPV skills can be a plus with an aerial appliance in the right setting. Unfortunately the FAA isn't going to let that happen without jumping through a lot of hoops. The FAA even has their own government agencies shut down when it comes to Multirotors for things like inspections, ferrying duties, surveying and other applications that could be a huge asset to these organizations but run afoul of the FAA to the point that these organizations hire outside contractors to perform the work.

To the point that Stephen brought up initially. IMHO, we do not fly drones. Multirotors, helicopters and fixed wing aircraft are not drones.

Love how Az claims to be this big multi-rotor dude with all this experience yet he just joined RR ten days ago.

Either he's a noob or a banned re-tread.

There is a reason why RC heli's are considered the most difficult to learn.

If you can fly a heli well you can fly anything

HemiD your so narrow minded. Me joining 10 days ago has no bearing on my skills. In fact this forms really does nothing for me. I only stop by due to a friend and found out not much going on. I am still waiting for the heli pilots to provide video's that will stop me in my tracks. Its not going to happen cause there is very little you can do with a heli. The two videos I post it about all you can do outside of 3D. Kinda boring is it not?

SB your an exception as you took it to the next step and made use of of heli with video or stills, but to build these scale heli's to fly around a field appears to be a total waste of time and money. Really what do the pilots get out of it?

Would really like to see you heli pilots fly a canyon that 4200 feet long and the elevation will rise 1200 feet through narrow passages, boulders, and tree limbs while flying low to capture in detail the great outdoor. It takes a lot of concentration and FPV only hinders the pilot due to the focal length of the lens.

Are you flying a drone?

The title says it all. Why are you heli pilots in here?

Dons you said it best, yet some are so narrow minded. If I saw a need for a heli I would build one, but I don't.

there you go , you don't even realize that you just proved to yourself that helis take much more skill to fly,, maybe you should change your nick name to "Only a Drone Pilot"

try again AzViper, there is a saying in the RC heli hobby, it goes like this>>> "if you don't have the skill to learn to fly a RC heli, don't worry, you can always open a Quad box and push go"

So, why are you still here and actively posting away trying to defend yourself? And, it's "you're" and "forum" by the way. Now, predictably, blame that on your phone.

Or, more appropriately, a "drone operator" because it sure doesn't take much piloting skills as HE himself just accidentally proved.

Speaking as a 3D helicopter pilot, private pilot, and commercial fixed-wing/multi-rotor "Drone" operator, I agree with don s...
